I just received one as well :0)

elsanto 01-08-2011 09:22 AM

Santa,

I been sending those guys resume for the last 2 years. Unfortunately, I was stuck in that period were they stop hiring or froze any more resumes. When they started taking resumes a few a months ago, I summitted at least two more. Hope this helps.

744driver or other Atlas driver
I have been looking over the threads a while for an answer, but the eyes are starting to hurt. I saw Atlas had a Stanstead, UK (EGSS/STN) base in another forum post, although a bit older. Does Atlas have a UK base? I'm trying to steer my career towards ending up in the UK and come up with options. Good luck to those who have gotten interviews, my app is in, but still working on getting noticed. Thanks!

Beagle_Lover 01-08-2011 03:54 PM

No base but there plenty flights from HSV to STN and westbound LUX-HSV if you wanted to commute.

bigmacdaddy 01-09-2011 02:22 PM

Thanks Beagle Lover, not sure if that was a temp placement or my mis-understanding about the STN base. Have read the commute can be hard and not covered due to distance with the company. Atlas is a good company though, could definitely be worth it.

Twin Wasp 01-09-2011 02:50 PM

There was a STN base before the furlough in 08. Lets just say there was a lot of weird politics going on, a company within a company. Some pilots had gateway, some didn't. The base was closed the summer of 08.

I interviewed in mid-December and was called today for a 400 class starting January 31st.

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll enjoy the company and the flying. If I may ask... what is your background, Military, Civ, both or one of the many furloughed guys/gals? In other words, what is your recency of experience and on what? Thanks and again, congratulations!

Thanks, I appreciate it!

My background is regional T-prop flying. I have a couple thousand PIC, Check Airman, Sim instructor. I feel very fortunate to have gotten the interview and job, I am looking forward to the flying.

Does anyone have recent info on the phone call from Atlas? Questions asked and what they discuss?

What about preparing for the online test? Is it ATP test questions? Can the answers be researched while taking the test?

Thanks..

Take the time to read this and the many other posts that have been written on exactly this subject.

The rest of us have.

If you do, it will save the Atlas guys the trouble of answering the same questions over and over. One day, they may just get tired of repeating themselves and quit helping us out with their knowledge and insight.

Just got the call this morning and have been invited to take the online test. I want to thank everyone who has participated in this thread because it has definitely helped me prepare for the interview process.

OK Thanks. The questions I asked have been asked at least 3 times since Jan. 01. The Atlas guys do an excellent job providing info and answering questions. I have been reading this thread for a long time.
Check your PM's..

Weisguy 01-10-2011 02:19 PM

I looked through a ton of these pages and I give up... Could someone please tell me what to expect from a phone interview? I missed their call today and I am going to call them back but I want to be prepared. Thanks

This is what I got from someone who got a phone call:

mostly questions about how I think their operation is different, how I'll deal with being away, how to deal with a not so great crew for 17 days, etc.

You are correct about the info not being here. Now at least there is a little info. I recently had a couple phone interviews (not sure how it is with Atlas), it was a HR person and they basically start a casual conversation with you and ask questions. I would recommend not having canned answers. Be yourself, be honest... Send me a PM when you get your posts up.

Good Luck to all

crjdriver05 01-10-2011 08:18 PM

Does anybody know the average block hours a pilot flies per month? per year? Also, does anybody know if the Houston base is junior or senior for FO's? Thanks for all the advice guys

forumname 01-10-2011 08:19 PM

Got the call this morning also, was flying so I gotta call back to square away the tech portion assuming I get through the phone screen.

Been following this thread like the paparazzi follows Lindsay Blowhan. Read most of the stuff that's available here and elsewhere, but anybody got any last minute tips/gouges?

Thanks.

Average is just below 62 . IAH is senior, junior bases right now will be ANC, HSV and MIA. Good luck.

moonkey 01-11-2011 07:34 AM

I know that it has been talked about in the previous 70 pages, but just got done with the phone interview and awaiting the online test, all PM's are welcome.

Just for the record, I don't have any internal recommendations, past experience is Regional and ACMI as well.

Please add me to that list, too! Just got off the phone with Atlas and was sent the link for the online test. Very friendly interview! Excited and hopeful! Thanks!

By the way, RJ guy, 5000TT, 2000 TPIC, no internal recs.

Once again my advice to EVERYONE taking the online exam is to drink heavily!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Cheyenne Driver 01-11-2011 10:46 AM

I would not do like the above posts states.

I have not taken the test but this is what someone recommended to me:

Definitely pick up the "ace the tech pilot interview book" if you don't have it, as a lot of the questions on the online test come right out of it. Find out all you can on North atlantic ops, MNPS stuff, and any foreign nuances you can learn about (QNH, QNE, QFE, etc...)

Good luck.

Jingleheimer 01-11-2011 11:49 AM

I am assuming that if they say we will forward your resume to the CP at the end of the phone call, I am sunk. I thought it went well, not sure what I could have jacked up in the phone interview. Any thoughts about continuing to update resume.

shark3058 01-11-2011 02:00 PM

Got the call Thursday, was offered the link to the tech assessment on the call. Took the test last night and "passed" what fun that thing was! Now anxiously awaiting a call! Anyone in that timeframe get an invite to MIA yet?

AIRLIFTR 01-11-2011 04:06 PM

16 in Jan 31 class. Saw the list today. 10 400s 6 classics. 56 pilots by May.

IMO they divide it up with guys who have more glass into the 400 those with limited glass 200. just a guess though. Great Success to those moving along!

kc135driver 01-12-2011 04:27 AM

Sooo, judging by the number of calls going to all RJ, non-heavy/non-international/non-long-haul guys lately, those screens are all a bunch of BS. I hope nobody who got a call is offended by this, I sincerely wish you the best of luck. I just have an issue with an organization who says they want one thing but than acts completely different. And yes, I know I'm being completely self-centered here.

It is what it is. Rant over.

Best wishes to all-

Whale Driver 01-12-2011 05:53 AM

I think the list of applicants with big wing Intl. ops has dwindled.

As for your particular situation. Did you follow the application instructions to the letter and no more?

Anyone with the Min. Requirements can apply. The BS items you mention are preferred experience. If you have an issue with Atlas/Polar then why would you want to go there? I don't think anyone is offended by your post. We understand its a rant.. be patient your numbers look good.

For anyone who has taken the online assessment recently, how long after you were sent the link by Atlas did it become active? They sent me the link yesterday, but it says my login name is invalid still. Thanks.

It should be available by close of business today. Good luck.

KC,
You and I have about the same time. I was called today. Phone interview. They are interviewing the 18th and 19th. I'll find out if I get invited, hopefully by the end of the week. I did the online app a few months ago. They said they will be hiring 60 or so this year. That's all I know and it's not much!

Beagle_Lover, thank you very much for your post. Is this average (62) actual flight time or payed time? I assume it's actual flight time but I just wanted to make sure. Also, do you by chance have any idea how long it takes to hold Houston as an FO. Thanks again so much.
