Another ACMI contract announced today with TNT out of Belgium for one 747-400 and was told to be on the lookout for more good things on the horizon.....

DeadBeat 09-28-2010 07:15 AM

Has anyone heard if the Oct. class is a go? Heard from a friend that some say it is, others are saying not till Jan.

HalinTexas 09-28-2010 07:20 AM

Don't know about the Oct. class, but I was told by a guy that's just finishing up training that they've paused the hiring for a "couple of months."

744driver 09-28-2010 08:06 AM

They are, however, interviewing this week on Wednesday and Thursday. FWIW.

Don't know if that says anything about the hiring in October, but it does say that we might be hiring in 1Q2011.

I realize everyone that is trying to get on at Atlas is impatient about the slow-down in the program, but everything that I have heard points to good things.

So, just hang in there...and send your stuff in. Don't wait till tomorrow. Send it today. And start calling in all the favors from buddies that are at Atlas. A recommendation DOES make a difference.

Good luck.

sandstorm 09-28-2010 01:31 PM

Is anyone else going to the career expo in Vegas? I'm probably going to go just so I can meet the reps from Atlas that will be there.

cargowannabe 09-29-2010 03:20 AM

Interview

Friend of mine interviewed yesterday (9/28) and was the only one with international heavy cargo time. The group was a mixture of corporate, domestic 121 and couple of military guys.

(2nd hand info to follow) The group was told that they would hear something by Friday (10/01) and that there would be no more classes until sometime next year but a check airman that talked to the group a little while later told the group 2 more classes this year. So go figure........

Cargo
(in pool and still paddling)

DeadBeat 09-29-2010 05:16 AM

A friend of mine that just finished up IOE said that they usually call about 2 weeks prior to class, so hopefully they wiil start phone calls soon.

HercDriver130 09-30-2010 03:36 AM

I hope he doesnt hold his breath waiting on a Oct 1 call. We were told we would here in one or two days and it took 2 weeks. Good luck to those who have been selected.

cargowannabe 09-30-2010 05:41 AM

Herc same thing with us! We were told 10 days to 2 weeks and it ended up being around 3 weeks. So who knows??????

g-code 09-30-2010 01:12 PM

What type of classes are they running? -200 or -400?

sandstorm 09-30-2010 08:14 PM

Boeing Delays 747-8 Another Six Months to Mid 2011 - Bloomberg

How is this going to affect hiring at Atlas?

HercDriver130 10-01-2010 11:31 AM

dunno...but ATlas is going to OWN part of boeing if they dont get off the dime.

Twin Wasp 10-01-2010 11:36 AM

Most of the hiring has been for the 400, a few have gone to the Classic. Who knows what the -8 delay will affect. Word is the -8s are going to GSS who leases some 400s from Titan which is part of AAWW Holdings. There have been rumors that the 400s would move to Atlas but GSS has ads out looking to hire because they're getting more planes.

atpcliff 10-01-2010 05:13 PM

Hi!

The last 3 classes were all -400.

744driver 10-01-2010 09:32 PM

I just got back from a trip...and there is no sign of a slowdown. We never had a slow down, even during the "slow period" of the year (which for us is Jan to May or so).

But that is mostly because we are understaffed (and Atlas likes it that way). However, the staffing ratio is improving and relieving some pressure off the schedulers (and the company) as we hire and train new guys/gals on the B744F.

I must also say that the company is aggressively out getting new work (TNT, LCF, pax) and posting record profits...

All that (and even the delayed -8F) spells good times for potential job-hunters that are considering Atlas as the next step (or the only step).

Keep plugging away at getting that foot in the door...and good luck.

DeadBeat 10-02-2010 06:52 AM

Just heard from a friend of mine down in training, said the rumor was theres about 35 or so in the pool. When they start picking from the pool does it go buy the highest score or first group into the pool?

744driver 10-02-2010 08:57 AM

Don't know,sorry.

The 400's are actually from the Atlas side of the house -- not Titan -- and according to the company are going to be returned to the line at Atlas. Question is are they going to be replacing the classics or is it additional flying? Only time will tell when the first three 747-8's arrive at GSS.

I think it goes by highest interview score.

cargowannabe 10-03-2010 02:46 AM

people paddling

I was told last week that there were only 8 in the pool.

pegasus6234 10-03-2010 09:40 AM

I was one of the lucky to interview last week. They told us that they pulled from the pool based on total score. They also said that they traditionally flush the pool after a year. They sure seem to run a nice operation; at least on the HR and training side. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

DeadBeat 10-03-2010 12:29 PM

Did they happen to tell your group when training would be if picked?

That means they're 25 from the Sep round of interviews.

(Spoke to DM from HR told me I was one of 10 prior to the Sep group.) But who knows. Better slip on my water wings, might stew in here awhile.

Are they already calling (or sending non Fed-Ex letters) from the September interviews for the pool? Does anyone know if there were interviews other than the last week of the month?

Did HR say anything about when the next class might be?

sandstorm 10-10-2010 02:33 PM

Just curious... would a letter of rec from an Atlas pilot who is furloughed (bypassed recall) help?

744driver 10-10-2010 06:33 PM

Depends...bypassed recall for what reason? Any skeletons? etc...

sandstorm 10-10-2010 07:23 PM

Nope. Just a very senior CA at a regional and paying off some bills.

AIRLIFTR 10-10-2010 07:43 PM

Next year.

What do you know? Are you referring to when more classes will be held?

I was one of the ones in the interview group at the end of September. I have not received a call or letter yet. I think they told us when we interviewed that no other interviews were scheduled yet, along with no new class dates. Makes sense if no class dates are set that they probably don't have interviews scheduled. However, this is the aviation industry, maybe tomorrow they will announce 1 million new hires.

744driver 10-11-2010 01:45 PM

Congrats on the interview...and you surely are a glass-half-full kinda guy!

sandstorm 10-12-2010 11:19 AM

"**Hiring on hold til sometime in 2011 due delay of new Boeing B747-800s - which are delayed."

Got this from another site. What has everyone been hearing?

Rhinoflyer 10-15-2010 12:53 PM

Any Sept interviewees hear anything yet?

Cousteau135 10-15-2010 05:16 PM

Nothing yet for Sep.
