I heard they are pulling classics out of the desert, are they hiring any FEs?

Talon1011 01-20-2011 03:08 PM

To all of the folks called, welcome aboard! To those waiting, hang in there. It appears that hiring will be continuing well into this year. If you like adventure and get bored with routine you'll love it here. I sure do! As far as I'm concerned, this place is the brass ring.

Flaps8 01-20-2011 03:50 PM

Does anyone know if you are hired by Atlas if they have a training contract? If so how much is it and for how long? Thanks to all that have posted the great info on Atlas!

Took me 2.5 months from resume submission to the phone interview/online test. Passed both.

Been waiting 1 month so far for a call for the in-person interview. :)

I don't know of a training contract/bond with Atlas...I just heard of two guys that finished their type ratings and resigned to start at jetBlue.

I'm sure others might chime in if my info is not correct...

Whaledriver 01-20-2011 04:57 PM

No training contract of any kind.

No classics to pull out of the desert.

Flaps8 01-20-2011 06:11 PM

Thanks again for all the great info...I would really like to get on with Atlas soon!!!

I sent one a long time ago, before the current PAQ/Resume method.

Sent one end of November, then another one mid December. Got got the call a week and a half ago for phone screen. Took the online assessment a few days later.

springbokcapt 01-21-2011 07:29 AM

Hey Guys,
Just got back from the interview and it was a great experience. It was as advertised here in the forums. Very friendly and relaxed interview panel, tech eval and background info. NO SIM eval. The company briefing was excellent and very informative.
Some golden nuggets for you guys, AAWW was awarded the Phoenix award by ATW mag. AAWW also just announced yesterday that they will be getting 2 more 747s for DHL and one more for the pax contract. -8 deliveries are scheduled for NOV of 2011.
All in all growth, profits and stability. If you are worried about schedules, they are not bad at all. New hires from April are getting 14+ days off. If you get the nod, take it....

One more thing, don't drink too many bottles of water. They are counting......... just kidding

cargowannabe 01-21-2011 08:01 AM

For the JAN 31st people; I spoke with HR today and got some info. They said to expect an e-mail next Thursday with hotel information etc. Also if you did not fill out a bid sheet, to do so, and scan and e-mail it back to HR. See you all in MIA.

The rumor is that you'll be in MIA for a week, then sent home for a CBT self study program. Is that what you've been told? I was just reviewing the program, looks pretty good. Pelesys is the maker. Congrats.

BTW, this is for the -400 guys, I think the classic is still done in a classroom at MIA.

130 DRVR 01-23-2011 01:06 PM

Phone interview and online assessment complete in late Nov. Still waiting for further info with crossed fingers.

kcopeland101 01-23-2011 01:15 PM

I got a call 2 weeks ago asking if I was still interested in a job with Atlas. I called back and said I definiyely was and that was the last I heard. HR said they would call me in a few days. I have left messages to no avail.

Moondog 01-23-2011 01:30 PM

I know that feeling. Have left msgs and nothing from them.

pwr1830 01-23-2011 04:58 PM

Hey folks,

Thursday I received a great call from Atlas offering me the February 28th -400 class. I accepted with much enthusiasm! I believe the HR person said she would send an email with info on the whole process. Have any of the people who have accepted the Feb 28th class received any correspondence?

Thanks for any and all replies.

Dave

When did you interview, if you don't mind?

pwr1830 01-23-2011 07:47 PM

I interviewed July 7th

ndvidu8 01-23-2011 07:57 PM

spoke with an Atlas buddy yesterday who just checked with training, and the word is for us to pack the big bag. The course is not approved yet, so we should be in MIA for the duration. This is second hand information ofcourse so take it for what it's worth, and things could change overnight anyways.

Cheers,

You'll do just fine, my friend, at Atlas as long as you keep that in the forefront...That is the ONLY gospel at Atlas.

I'm stomping my feet, giving those of you that have not understood that in 85 pages of this (and other threads and on other sites) a heads up...if you can't handle a constant state of flux...DON'T COME TO ATLAS.

abuesing 01-24-2011 07:34 AM

Pwr1830, check your pm's...

Talon1011 01-24-2011 07:35 AM

I second what 744driver said. On the other hand, if you CAN deal with the schedule flux, I believe there's no better place to be. Good airplanes, wandering the world and a company that appears to be staring a bright future in the face... at least as much as any company can in this business. In addition you will fly with some great folks. I know every company has their 10% but I've yet to meet any of them here.

pwr1830 01-24-2011 07:51 AM

I spoke with HR this morning and they confirmed no at home study.

744driver:

Thanks for your continued responses on the forum. Your insight into life at Atlas should not be overlooked by anyone just wanting a job, no matter how glamorous the 747 appears. I've been a freight dog my entire career, Dc-3's to scheduled 767 and everything in between. I love the challenges associated with parcel express, heavy freight and ACMI work. More importantly my family understands the business very well. I can't wait to start! Hopefully we will get a chance to meet soon.

Sincerely
Dave

Almost exactly the same for me.

July - Sent in resume with a few employee recommendations
August - Phone/Technical portion
Late Sept - Interview
Late October - Pool letter
Early Nov - Dec 1 class offering (could not make it, just killed me to postpone)
Late Dec - Jan 31 class (woohoooo!) in the Classic
7500 tt, lots of 737NG Etops

Good gouge in this thread. The info here has been invaluable for me!

744driver 01-25-2011 08:46 AM

We have mostly managed to keep the thread on track, which is nearly impossible to do after even the first page or two.

But I'm glad it is been so successful...and kudos to the guys that have made the cut. I am under no illusion how difficult it must be right now to get a job like this.

Best wishes to the others who are in the midst of the process...good luck.

EMBFlyer 01-25-2011 08:52 AM

Any idea if they've filled the 2/28 class? I just interviewed last week and am trying to be hopeful!

abuesing 01-25-2011 10:18 AM

I assume the 2/28 is full judging from the numerous responses posted on here. However it sounds like there will soon be many more classes to follow. Good luck!

Thanks for all the good advice guys. I was curious if anybody knew the alloted vacation time for year 1, 2, 3.....etc.? I've read all 84 pages numerous times but am still a little curious about the schedule. As far as being gone 17 days, would that be the case 75% of the time??? 90% of the time??? Almost 100% of the time??? I know change is constant at Atlas, read it all over the forum. However, I'm just curious if anybody out there has any idea? Again, thanks for all the help.

I am a 3 year FO, and I was awarded a two week consecutive block of vacation. I think I just got lucky as they don't have to give you consecutive weeks.

This month was a 19 day pattern for me because I don't live in my base. It takes a day to get to base and a day to get home. My schedule slid, imagine that, therefore I will not make it home on company time. It varies for everybody, but I might get home on company time 20% of the year. You must not count on any of this. Make your decision based on the worst case scenario and never plan your finances beyond guarantee.

easyflying 01-25-2011 06:18 PM

Shark, I took the test on 18th and got the call on the 22nd. I hope this helps and that you get the call too.

[QUOTE=EMBFlyer;935765]Any idea if they've filled the 2/28 class? \

From the postings here, it looks like there are at least 5 pilots on this board that are in the Feb 28 class.

skipdragon
abuesing
cargowannabe
rhinoflier
pwr1830

I don't know if the other 3 pilots slots have been filled for the Feb 28 747/400 class or even if those pilots are on this board.
