Hello folks, Search engine is not working very well for me. Tried to research about food bu tb wh em clicking on the post would show me a different one...weird. How someone that cares about diet and healthy food is going to deal with the Atlas lifestyle?! Carrying food is not an option..is it? What catering food is available? is it possible to maintain a certain (healthy) diet during the trips?

Wondering this myself. I saw a guy on LinkedIn the other day showing his routing from Miami to Inchon-16+ hrs.
Plus, how many crew are on to do that mission?

Don’t call it a mission. This is the civilian world no matter what the FAA says.
4 operating crew. Maximum of 1 mechanic and 1 loadmaster. 6 total of 8 possible on a -400/-8 freighter.

Catering is passable, nothing stellar in 90% of the places we go. You could possibly make due diet wise here. My suggestion would be to find some bit of compromise otherwise you’ll be eating a lot of fruit.

Actually have a few vegans here. Dedicated Capt carries a duffel bag full of preferred food with him. Granted, he throws some away depending where he ends up but shops at local grocery stores when able. Easier before the viral debacle of course.

Some pilots pick up the fruit platter/fruits and a protein from a meal and eat that. Makes for a pretty healthy meal, just not the most exciting one.
Piece of filet and a fruit platter is not too bad for you.

Catering from MIA is awful though. Thankfully for now that flight credits over 30 hours so makes up for the lack of edible food.

Especially the domestic catering is prison food.
Body by Atlas is a serious issue.
It can be a challenge if you’ve got 8hrs to go and nothing but processed empty carbs.
You need a lot of discipline.

I've begun intermittent fasting during flights, unless the food is especially good, like SUU or the sushi platter out of NGO. Works great, and I've actually lost a few pounds along the way. Most of the catering on our FedEx flying is pretty darn good, and they seem to like to give us way too much of it. Beware the chocolate cake. It's habit forming..

I usually lose weight while I'm on trips, mostly because I fast a lot, but there are many temptations you have to avoid. They pile on a lot crap and junk food out of some of the stations and you get real bored flying over the ocean with out much to do. I've done a lot of international commercial deadheads and with those it's very easy to feel like you are going on vacation and something and start pounding down the free drinks and food in the lounges and flights.
