Also watch the carb intake and try to keep it down. Can’t really bring food, but when I get some where and I have time. I try to make it to a grocery store and pick up a salad kit and a rotisserie chicken to hold me over for a day or so.

Assume 4 months from DOH before you actually start making that money. If you think COVID is still a thing 4 months from now, you might see it. I'm not making any predictions on that.

So right now, there are year 1 FOs hitting 30k a month with overtime, and there are lines that guarantee 20k at year 1 FO rates. YMMV.

Typical roster? Hope you like ICN.
Plan on min pay, nothing more, because if you don't, you can really screw yourself financially if you count on more and things go wrong.
I am a 11+ year 747 Capt. I have gotten 130+ credit twice: Once as FO on the only month I outbased, and once as Capt.
In Nov I flew a few legs. Dec 2 legs. Jan a few legs, and Feb 2 legs. I did make about $13K takehome pay on the few legs I flew in Jan. My situation is unusual for current Atlas pilots, but it can easily happen to you.
I do know of FOs flying overtime, and making 20K+ recently. I normally fly a bit of overtime here and there. I don't outbase, because there are ALWAYS certain days off per month I try and get.

American? Etihad, Lufthansa (mailine only), and we can Jumpseat on LH, with the capt's permission. LH is the best overseas option for the family.

What catering food is available? is it possible to maintain a certain (healthy) diet during the trips?
The more of a restricted diet you have, the more food you will want to take with you. Some pilots take a LOT of food (a pilot with celiac, for example), and some take complex coffee makers. A LOT bring their own coffee: catering is usually Maxwell House?...not very well liked. Sometimes we get Starbucks.
I know of a Halal pilot that quit. I like Halal a lot.
The catering ranges from OK to great...HIGHLY variable.
I have had FedEx and UPS catering. Some of it I like better than Atlas. Some of the typical Atlas catering I like better than the FedEx/UPS stuff.

Plus, how many crew are on to do that mission?
In the 747 (and I'm sure 777) there are 4 pilots. In the 747, normal cargo setup, there are two bunks in the back, separated with cloth doors. There will also be one open "biz" class seat, and you will get extra pay for the long flight...both the last two are from the new contract.

It can be a challenge if you’ve got 8hrs to go and nothing but processed empty carbs.
You need a lot of discipline.
Most of the catering is WAY better that what I got in the military, and i had prison food for a couple of days...Atlas is light years better than the (mil) prison food I had.

Good to know, with some effort and imagination looks like is possible to eat close to healthy. Thanks

Yes. Very easy to overeat on the biz/first class airline flights and the good airline lounge food...but NOT the Bishkek lounge.

For potential new hires. Just read of several candidates recommended by my fellow pilots, who failed the phone screen interview. Makes no sense to me, as I'm sure they were highly qualified.
If you don't make it through the hiring process, try again if you want, and do not take it personally. There are many, many times when there is no logical reason that highly qualified candidates
are not hired...and sometimes they are told they are not hired, but then they are, and/or they try again and are suddenly highly qualified and hired no problem.

To everyone out there, and especially those suffering as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, God Bless, and Namaste...
