AAWH is not small, I wonder what part of Atlas will they dump. They could park the whales and bring them back when all settles down and cargo increases, (by the way A4A expects a 20% growth in cargo revenue in 2024) , part them out, or sell then outright. Whatever we think I can guarantee one thing. Apollo has plans and it will be something we never thought of. Companies like Apollo think 30 years down the road, not today, tomorrow, a year from now, or even 5 years from now while we worry about our next check coming. Just sit back an enjoy the ride and prepare for the worst.

True, pain is out there and you never know what future hiccups will stall the industry, but if we’re hurting in any way it’s less than most of the others and our profit margins are quite a bit larger than the other flying outfits. Whale and the triple bring home more bacon on a normal scale, but demand is king. One entity doesn’t just take a hit on either side of pax or cargo alone for the most part aside from takeovers, etc. so we’ll just ride it out since that’s all one can do.

747s got one major thing going for them, they're dirt cheap. You can buy a lot of gas, overhaul a lot of engines for what a brand new 777F costs. There will always be a market for brand new top-of-the-line freighters which is why Boeing is marketing the 777-8F even before production begins. But ultimately they may only see room in the market as air freight expands or as old airframes time out and at major outfits that have the resources to pay top dollar. Atlas is one of those top dogs and Apollo brings with them an ocean of money to place orders, but they'll always be compared to a 20 year old 747-400 that's been paid off for 15 years and even a D check costs less than the downpayment for a 777.

Are you basically locked to the 76/73 with anything less than 2000TT? I do have over 1000 turbine and 500 TPIC, but would rather not wait 8 months for 73/76 if I could go straight to a 74

That probably depends on what you flew, where you flew, what you request in the interview, and how you sell yourself. I had a trip with a CA who conducts the HR interviews and he will ask the lower time pilots how they will feel on their second OE flight taxing a 1 Million Pound airplane around a tight ramp, then landing said airplane in gusty crosswinds.

Small sample size, but he tries to steer lower time folks to the 73/76 unless they have big jet time.
