Can anyone who has been through the Miami interview lately comment on what the pay during training is?

No strike clause
Can't cross picket lines due to sensitive nature of military flying
Lost a lot of scope
Able to dry lease (Titan) airplanes can transfer here if they so choose from what I understand. Please tell me I'm wrong.

I'm curious what the scope is now with the new contract? So if I understand this correctly it means that the holding company is able to transfer aircraft from Atlas or Polar to Titan in order to dry lease them?

It is now $1600 per month + Per Diem, still sux, but it is what it is.

Don't bite on the sky is falling scope issues. There has never been a scope clause upheld that any company ever went after with both barrels.

It is what it it is.

Oh -- but we get to share information from/to the company to see if they're in violation of Scope.

Ask the ABX and Astar guys how good a pay raise is when you're in the unemployment line.

After looking at the slide and listening to the DahlmanRose presentation by our CEO, things appear to be on the right track but there is no designation to where the -8's are going.

So things are looking good here but you know what they say: keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Guess I'll find out in twenty years when I retire! :D

I haven't heard anything about "readjusting" hiring numbers. Is this a new rumor? Do share

Twin Wasp 09-12-2011 02:06 AM

Technically I don't think the pay rates (including training pay) change till October.

16Bob130 09-12-2011 04:33 AM

Is anyone able to list the Octobober pay rate increases throughout the payscale?

Do the rates increase linearly (if there is such a word) over the 5 years? What is the yearly increase? Do perdiem and monthly guarantees remain the same? Awesome info-thanks for your time

Twin Wasp 09-12-2011 02:41 PM

Per Diem goes up 5 cents, guarantee remain the same. Yes, linearly is a word. I don't think the increases meet the definition. Three year F/O goes up 1 dollar, 2 dollars, 1.03 and 2.06. Ten year Captains go up 1.80, 3.82 1.96 and 3.94.

EllisCoastal 09-12-2011 02:59 PM

I received a pay-cut with the new contract. Actually, all 1st year FOs received a pay-cut. Our hourly did not change, but we pay almost twice as much for medical insurance now. So, less money in pocket.

Time will tell with the quality of life issues.

So Wonwee 09-12-2011 03:06 PM

feedback on the 100 question test - much of the content discussed earlier in this thread is spot-on. The METAR, TAF, and Jepp plates were difficult to impossible to read, but that could be because I was using Google Chrome. There is a countdown clock that helps you track your pace. I had an insane amount of questions centered around the jetstream - or so it seemed. There were a handful of questions that can be learned by reading Ace the Technical Pilot Interview. Which you can read on-line for free at Ace the Technical Pilot Interview
I downloaded the MNPS supp from the ICAO website and read that. The most useful resource besides Google was the book Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot.

I applied back in mid-April and did my phone interview on 8 Sept.

bon chance

twoshadesblue 09-12-2011 04:50 PM

I have interview this week!!! Any last minute advice?? Should I wear a tie??? Just Kidding ;)!!! And yes I did read all 225 pages of the thread . Thanks to all that contributed meaningful post to help those looking to get hired. For those interested I applied in late April and received call to test mid August. I was offered interview date in August but had prior job obligations. The HR lady then offered me a September or October date for interview via email. I replied two hours later that I would like one of the September dates after clearing my schedule at work and received an email that September was not an option anymore. Soooo feeling like I missed the ball by replying 2 hours after getting the email I opted for the day in October. The next day I received phone call that the September was available again. I replied within 2 secs that I would take it!!!:D

I think for that quote to be accurate you would have to specify how many hours you are away from base on a given month. A 17 day schedule results in something like 82+ hours. Likely be a pay raise for most first year fo's.

8

16Bob130 09-13-2011 06:02 AM

Is it still Cigna? How much was the cost for a family kind of guy and what is the new cost? Thanks to you and TW for your answers. In relation to the 82+ hours away from base-how does that account for a pay increase to first year FO's? My ignorance is surely showing here!

Jerry,

Just saw you're latest episode this morning -- Nice Job!

Yeah, probably am but as you know my history, I'm always looking at how management MAY try and spin things.

All in all, especially with the CRT, things are looking pretty good! Send me an email please, as your phone number didn't make the transition to my phone book on my cell. I was going to send you a text.

C-YA

Twin Wasp 09-13-2011 06:45 AM

Yes, still Cigna. There are in network only and in and outside. For this year in network family is running 57.50 each paycheck, in and outside 154.42. I think what DC-8 driver is saying is that if you're out 17 days, you'll break guarantee. If he's getting 82 hours credit a month I need to talk to him. I am out 14-17 days and got 90 hours total over guarantee last year for 8 months on the line and am at 80 for the year now. A lot depends on your base.

Talon1011 09-13-2011 09:25 AM

The answer lies in the new trip rig. That results in making guarantee at 13 days or so away from home no matter if you turn a wheel or not. If you are out 17 days that brings the month to 82 hours regardless of how many hours you fly.

Whale Driver 09-13-2011 11:51 AM

The new rig is "similar" to TAFB, except it can be much greater.

The CBT as we are going to call it is TAFB + any hours in base that are less than 5 days.

ex. if you worked 2 trips that each have a TAFB of 130 hours and they are 4 days apart that would be 130 + 130 + 96 (4 days in base). That is 354 CBT hours. 354/4.95= 71.51 hours CBT credit.

So, your pay for the month would be the HIGHER of:

62 hour guarantee

The actual credit earned

CBT of 71.51

Clear as mud?

Disclaimer: As I understand it today, YMMV.

Corrections welcomed.

Could you expand a bit for the uninitiated? I get YMMV, but all I see are Computer-Based Training and Travis Air Force Base when I see those other abbreviations :-)

Thanks!

Anyone hear anything from Aug 23rd or 24th interviews?

atpben 09-13-2011 12:12 PM

Still nothing. aug 23rd

Yardman 09-13-2011 12:15 PM

Still nothing here.

Whale Driver 09-13-2011 12:28 PM

Time Away From Base

( I knew that did not look right) CRT is the trip rig. 4.85 hours pay per calender day. However, it is calculated by the hour at 1 hour credit for 4.95 hours of CRT. Excluding R1 (home reserve)vacation, sick, training days ect. it is the time that you are NOT on days off (days off must be 5 or more in a row to count toward your minimum) at home.

I am confusing myself now.

Astro 09-13-2011 12:40 PM

Still Nothing Aug. 24th.

CRT, Calculated Rig Time. It is differant than TAFB, Time Away From Base, in that, base standby does not go into the calculation for TAFB, but does go into CRT. Meaning, we get rigs for base standby.

atpben 09-13-2011 02:03 PM

I had a missed call from Atlas HR lady earlier, when I called back it was 525 eastern time. Will call tomorrow morning. Interviewed August 23rd.

ultradrvr 09-13-2011 06:24 PM

Anybody have any details on the sept 19th 76 class? Got the drug test Fed Ex pack with the conditional employment letter but nothing else.

JerrySpringer 09-13-2011 07:56 PM

Simplified new trip rig (I hate abbreviations, so I will go to great lengths not to use them).

If show up to work, from your first report until you're released from duty to go home, you collect.

If you are Home Reserve, in training, sick or days off you do not collect rig.

Lines can not be built with less than 5 days off between trips.

atpben 09-14-2011 06:45 AM

Just got offered Oct 24th 747-400 class. Gladly accepted. Interviewed Aug 23rd.

I called in today spoke to HR, she mention that they were late sending the confirmation for the class on the 19, but to wait for the email, everything is ok for the 19class. B767.
