Yea I know, it's different and alot of people don't understand. I was at Southern Air and after 73 days I told them I wanted to go home. They said what you *****ing about you just had 9 days off in Hong Kong.

If you kind of like leaving home not knowing where you'll wind up then it will work. If schedule changes, many legs with few landings (we heavy crew just about all flights because of length), and maneuvering around the world to match up with your airplane cause difficulty then it probably won't. That's not to put anybody down at all. All jobs aren't a fit for all people. Please just be realistic about the ACMI world and find out what it holds before joining. These are a lot of hoops to jump through and a couple months spent out of your life just to find out that it's not a good fit.
Talon, you are spot on.

While I'm not going to begrudge anyone for leaving for a better opportunity, I do have to wonder if guys are going into this kind of a job with rose-colored glasses.

I'm not going to repeat what has already been said (in 98 pages) but for those of you that are even remotely considering a move to Atlas, please be realistic about what this job is all about. It is not one where we can leave home with a schedule and expect to fly that beyond the first leg...sometimes not even that. But then you have already read all that in these pages.

The real shame of it is that someone leaving after only a few months leave a spot that could have been filled by someone else...both for the company (from a cost standpoint), and the prospective pilot that didn't get that class assignment.

So, please keep your expectations in check even though you have just started, what some here have said is the dream job...that's is up for debate, but you get the point.

Does anyone know what the shortest time from RESUME/PAQ to a phone call has been?
Please understand me here. I am just letting you know what happened to me. I am sure other poeple have probably had it better, and I know many have had it worse.

Submitted resume December 7th
Got the call January 10th
Completed the test January 11th
Called for interview January 13th
Interviewed in the January 18,19,20 time frame
Got a letter entering me in the pool February 3rd

No internal rec
9,500 TT
6,400 PIC mostly ERJ
college degree
military (enlisted)
a few international crossings corporate

Good luck and keep submitting. Not sure why I got so lucky. Of course there is no guarantee I will even step foot in the training center again.

I hope to get the call soon. Believe me, if you want to work at Atlas now just wait until after the interview. Again good luck to all. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions on my process. I don't remember any particular test questions though.

One more quick thing. I don't think I would have made it this far if it wasn't for all the employees on here telling you what is happening with the company and giving insight to the process.

If you want to work at Atlas and just found your way here go back to page 1 and read through every post.

Again thank you everybody.

Hello all...I spent a good part of the morning reading this thread from page 1 through the end. Lots of great info about the company and the hiring process. I have past ACMI experience on the DC10, so I am familiar with the schedule, lifestyle, etc... I made it through the phone interview and I am preparing to take the online tech test tonight. I was wondering if anyone has taken the test lately? Curious about the content...I know there is info on some of the previous pages in this thread, but I also have heard the content is changed every 90 days or so. I have been studying and feel comfortable taking the test, just thought I would see if there is any new intel out there. You can't be to prepared for something like this. I am not sure I am enabled for PM on this site, but you can email me at chris75799@yahoo or IM me on yahoo at chris75799. Thanks for the help!

I didn't get one in with the PAQ til three weeks ago. I may know people there at Atlas, but not sure. Life in the non sked world the last ten years has been brutal. I have had some interest from some the ExPat carriers, but when they ask me to come 13,000 miles on my nickel, its kinda like somebody yelling FIRE in a theater. My girlfriend says if I wanna keep sleeping with her, I will have to choose between her and the cell phone. The middle of the night calls from China last Fall were getting her PO'd. Just about to sell a kidney via the internet. Savings and dividends bout cut to caca. Help....

Oh, and been unemployed for more then a year. 5000 TT and no internal rec. I have been so happy!! jumping up and down for the last 2 days!!! Wait until you meet their people and see the Atlas facilities if you go down there! The new TA is amazing, and there is a reason that they train the Airforce One pilots!! Great training center.
