This is all very scary. Youz guyz behavior, expectations, and overall rhetoric is WORSE than what's going on @ SAI now! That's not saying a lot as it's the pits @ SAI currently.

The prospect of seeing youz guyz out on the line @ SAI is a torture that I cannot even comprehend, and I have seen it pretty bad.

Please, can't youz guyz go bother the Legacies? It's bad enough as it is @ good ol' SAI without you, I can't imagine it with.

No idea how you came to that conclusion, but no.

I realize the work rules and pay isn't up to par but getting the 777 and the international time is worth it to me. I'm taking a 40K paycut to log some time in this thing but I feel it is worth it.

Based on the last two union emails I get the impression the company realizes that some improvements must happen.

Start class in a week and a half...

There's a few 737's classes behind me...

Can you explain why taking a 40K paycut would be worth it?

I can, i took a $50000 /yr cut to fly the guppy, from the same company flying 777's. YMMV as the Atlas threads like to point out.

Because I feel that I blend in with too many guys to land the job I will retire at. I need something that will separate me from the rest of the huge pool of RJ guys..... As of now, that's what I am... I have 6,000 hrs. of 121 jet... 2,000 of that pic...
After talking with numerous pilots at many different majors, it is apparent that I need to get on something bigger.

Not looking forward to the pay but that's not why I am going.

Brave, I admire that. Lots of days ahead glancing nervously at an end table clock listening to maids and guests bang around outside the door. Getting increasingly worked up because you're awake after three hours, the only decent REM time logged in the last....what's it been now? Still got 6 before you got to chit, shower and shave, plenty of time, just relax.

I did the same thing. Left an RJ captain position to fly bigger equipment at Southern to gain an advantage over other RJ guys. Anything to separate myself on paper.

So far, it has not worked out.
Good luck.
YMMV.

I hear a lot of guys blasting SAI, and maybe a few of them work there but I suspect most of the spewing is coming from guys who don't. That being said when I flew there (2005), I flew with some great guys, know some guys from Champion Air who fly there (a great bunch to a man or woman) that don't seem to ***** that often, and quite frankly I would love to be there again. It was tough on my marriage (that's over), but we had 36 crews and 18 FO's; so tough duty??? Some of you have NO IDEA... Try 46 days out, home 5, 61 days out and 10 days home, and my personal favorite; 73 out and 9 days home. Starting to get the picture? But, again that was 10 years ago. Incidentally, if DH is still the Chief Pilot, he is hysterical to fly with and an absolute saint of a gentleman, probably a damn good CP as well.
