Heck I'll just come right out and start the rumor....
!!!ATLAS OFFERS AB-INITIO!!!
Like anything in this world....it gets old after a while. Come on over....Fly the 747 or 767...then watch your seniority elsewhere drop. Then you'll finally start to realize..."hmm, I wish some one with experience would have warned me..."
...that's best case scenario btw. You could come here - have little-to-no experience, maybe bust a type ride (not uncommon), or worse get violated and have it taint your record.
Your call. Take the risk. A bit cavalier and sophomoric in my opinion. I've been there myself decades ago. I understand some people can only learn that way.

We are here because management lied to us when we joined up and continuously since then.
We are here because it takes time to be hired by one of the better airlines! If we could snap our fingers and be at UPS or FedEx we all would be there.
But in the mean time, we need to bring Atlas management to their knees and get a new industry average contract. Sorry not going to let Atlas get away with paying crap wages and benefits!
Maybe you would be happy with it. We are not.

We are here because we hired on with the expectation that Atlas would negotiate in good faith with its pilots just like all the other major airlines.

Of course Atlas pilots are leaving. Had you done any research at all, you would know that we are leaving in record numbers. 34 last month alone including 5 & 6 year wide body captains.
Furthermore, if you want help getting hired at Atlas, it would be better to avoid insulting the pilots here with antagonistic questions like that.
It wasn't always this way. We used to be pretty enthusiastic about Atlas until management; 1. Abruptly ceased contract negotiations with the union, 2. Began an attempt to force an "amalgamated" contract on the pilot group, and 3. Sued the pilots at Atlas.
There is so much more that you could find out about the reasons to avoid Atlas if you wanted. The information is all here on APC threads.
So, please don't take the easy way out and make flippant comments about our fight. We are simply trying to keep applicants from making a big career mistake.

As a new captain at ABX I've been flying 50/50 with old hands and new hires. The new hires have all been very good generally with 5,000+ hours of experience. Just flew with a Spanish speaking new hire down through Costa Rica and Panama. Made my life a whole lot easier! If I was doing the hiring for any of the ACMI's I wouldn't take anyone with less then 4,000 hours.
I'd say our average at ATI is around 3-4K with the actual being under 2k and 8k being hi-side
All BS aside and I know you didn't mean it that way. We are the lowest paid and can't ask for a whole heck of a lot.
Its down right depressing in the left seat here. I'd say most, if not all, our FNG's are D@mn good pilots and not only are they good to fly with they are great to hang out with. The younger ones without a lot of time are still super sharp. Throw some time with that and you've got a guy ready for anything. Seriously, I'd put my kid on the plane with about any of them. I can't say more than that. Sad thing is I know most if not all will move on. You can't justify a career here at this time.

I passed up a great opportunity years ago because this place had potential. I'm no genius but I can recognize a mistake and one I would like not to make again...and yes I will be leaving. It's only a matter of time.
This is why I pass my information to the next guy. You can choose to listen or ignore all the advise on here and repeat mistakes of the past.

It would be a good idea to do some research prior to entering a thread and misrepresenting the facts. Atlas pays 50% of the pilot contribution up to a maximum of 5 %. A brief sampling of regional retirement plans shows that Endeavor pays up to 5.25%. PSA up to 6%. Skywest up to 7%. Envoy up to 8%.
Have you ever complained about your airline? How would you feel if the same question were asked of you?
