If you get a DUI and are employed by an airline and they suspend your license to drive a vehicle can you still fly with a valid US Govt issused ID (passport)?

 

Yes you can. But you will eventually get a hardship license from the judge that will allow you to drive to work and church and home and grocery store but until then you can fly with your passport and also you can get a state id if you don't want to carry your passport evey where with you.

I think having your license suspended only takes away your right to drive. I would guess your need to have a drivers license to fly has to do with picture ID and not the right to drive.

 

Correct, generally any government issued ID will work.

 

I had a friend that got one last yr. He was issued a hardship license until his court date and then he was determined guilty and his license was suspended for the period of 1 yr. It cost him around 13000$ with lawyer fees and court fees and was terrible yr for him but with a restricted license that only allowed him to drive between 5 a.m and midnight from work to home and grocery store made life a little tolerable for him.It's a long process just make sure get yourself a state id and don't screw up that 1 yr because it will ruin your driving record forever and will get some madatory jail time like 45 days. Good luck and make sure you have a good lawyer that knows the state attorney real well since they can work some deals outside the court. If they can reach some kind of deal without going to the judge for a decision that would be best, just remember it's a long drwan process and could get very frustrating but the positive thing is your 1 yr starts from the time you got your dui not the conviction date.

 

Many states do not have the deal of to and from work. I live in NH and that is not an option.

I disagree with the ability to still get to and from work while driving yourself after a DUI. Probably should have thought of that before you drove drunk. Hire a driver, it should be a complete and utter hardship since you decided to risk the lives of the innocent around you.

This country is soft..just look at some of the freedoms our prisoners are allowed.
