Default Updating logbooks

I was wondering if previous employers are req to give you your flight times if requested? I kept my times in daily logbook but it was in a bag stolen. I am trying to update my master logs and cant because previous employer wont give me my schedules

No legal/regulatory requirement that I've ever heard of for that.

If they're a bottom-feeder, they probably assume that you're planning on suing them for overtime or something, and thus are naturally reluctant to help them out.

Actually...as a last resort you could file a lawsuit for something and subpoena those records. Then drop the suit after you get them.

Thank you for the reply. That is an idea. Just sucks want my logbook accurate. Not sure now I am missing a couple hundred hours that I need for a job that I was offered. For insurance reasons I need the time and not sure how to annotate it

..and then, in turn, perhaps get legitimately sued for abuse of process? Or have a public record that you filed a frivolous lawsuit against an employer? I'm not sure that's a particularly good idea.

Before trying a last resort that can get you into trouble, how about a brief chat with an employment attorney? There may be laws in your state that deal with employee rights to his or her employment records, maybe even including time records like this. Perhaps the laws even allow you to make the request through the state labor department. State laws are very different in this respect so there's no way to know what does or does not apply.

Assumption being that his attorney would advise him on all that and help him determine if there was a non-frivolous basis. With fly-by-night operators there's usually something they're doing wrong...

Just because his motive is the flight records doesn't invalidate any other claims he might have.

Thanks again for the answers. I am assuming they are prob afraid of a lawsuit like stated. I did not think of that. Even though I know I never did anything illegal at least to my knowledge and they never asked me to do anything illegal. I will give them that. Pay on the other hand that might be a reason for them to worry.
