Just applied through the site. Want to relocate back to Tampa, flying charter in Cali in my hometown right now. Environment and QOL sounds pleasant for a young family, wondering about pay, upgrade time (been multi turbine PIC for a couple years), and base seniority. Any info is much appreciated. 🤙

TPA is the most senior base. Popular with in base and commuter pilots. Probably the most productive base. Most likely take at least 6 months if not longer to get in. Pay is abysmal specially for FO’s. They keep saying there’s a raise coming but for now it’s terrible. The guys who live in base love it and have great QOL. Most open time is picked up for double time + $500. So there’s opportunities to make extra dough. PBS has really improved the QOL for the top 50% in each base. The bottom is getting scraps. Upgrade time is between 8-12 months. Better than a regional (specially if you live in base) still a long way to go to even come close to the other LCC’s |

I tried digging through the mess that is this thread, looks like the common theme is that 1st year FO pay is a joke. I mean it could be barely more than 50 percent my current wage. Can’t really come to bat if TPA is out of the question right out of the gate, but I can suffer bad pay for 12 months to have a decent environment and be home from relaxed routes every night. I’d like to at least talk to them. |

Has PBS helped commuters at all? How is QOL for commuters in general? Obviously returning to base every night raises its own issues, but what else?

We’re talkin a 40k pay cut if first year FO is ~60. I’m young but that’s too low. If it wasn’t for TPA being the center of it all I’d never consider it. But since it is, and since the camaraderie sounds like my style… I wouldn’t mind seeing my babies every night. I’d like to talk to them. Thanks for the info. Any more feedback is welcome. This thread is pretty tough to weed through |

Especially for what looks like a 40k pay cut the first year. Thanks for the info. I’d still love to talk to them. Being home every night is worth 117/hr or whatever. I’m only 26 and have a young family. Long term not sure what the plan is but who knows, this might fit the bill for a while. I wouldn’t mind going the distance if things improve too. I always find another role to fill I.e. instructor, check airman, etc so could be a good time to get integrated somewhere I could do it. Any other feedback is appreciated. |
