Wow that pay scale is a joke. Unfortunately they won’t have a hard time getting regional guys to jump ship with the state of the industry.

it is a startup airline you know.

That’s how startups usually work in other industries as well.

You think Jeff Bezos was paying big bucks to Amazon employees 22 years ago?

Amazon stock wasn’t always worth $3k a share either.

Just saying.

Yup. The incentive is to get a seniority number and CA (LCA) slot early and hope the thing reaches established ULCC status (with commensurate pay, bennies, and schedule). Or maybe you get acquired into a more established airline.

Some people just need a job, and if you're an airline person it's what you know, and probably no worse in most respects than corporate (in this climate).

Some people also just like the startup vibe, I know a couple of those over at breeze right now.

What was once a dumpster fire of a gamble, is the best gig in town. Closing up shop, furloughs etc have made the prospect of landing a job at breeze the holy grail. No one wants to be there, but there is essentially nowhere else to go. Get in early and keep your apps up and your eye on the industry. If something better comes along you can make the call then.

And 9 of 10 companies across all industries do not make it past 5 years.

Neeleman has a history of beating those odds (westJet, JetBlue, Azul) and even if it does fail, not like airline pilot jobs are plentiful at the moment. While I would not leave a legacy or an LLC for this, leaving a regional right now for Breeze seems like a risk worth taking.

I agree now it is going to be any port in the storm for pilots. But in 5 years, as the industry has recovered, a pilot shortage (along with other staff) will tighten up. Pay will be forced up, or he will have a revolving door.

If at that point he is not on secure footing, financially, he will have difficulty.

agreed. I wonder how much other airlines would target hiring at a company like breeze when things return to normal. I’ve heard airlines have done this in the past to drive up training costs at competing airlines
