SWA bought ATA cert. for pennies. Took one L1011, the slots/gates at DCA, LGA and MDW (no slots), took no employees. CBAs only matter if the airline is solvent. BK courts can abrogate contract to offer some return to secured creditors.

I take it you're another of the malcontent AirTran pilots that are constantly b*tching about SWA. Why didn't you just quit and go to Delta back then?
No I’m not FAT I’m RSW. I disliked it when GK got rid of the 717s but kept all the pilots. It didn’t impact my seniority as all the AirTran pilots were junior to me. I felt sorry for the junior SWA pilots who now had pilots brought over that were senior to them but didn’t bring 80+ airplanes.

The aircraft went to Southwest. When Southwest later decided they did not want them they were returned to Boeing. Boeing leased the aircraft to Delta. A contract can’t attach a pilot group to airframes forever. The pilots correctly went to SWA per the contract.
