Thoughts?
In my professional opinion, there’s only a matter of time till a reservist like me gets forced to ride on it at 2 am, hard IMC, single engine over the Appalachians.
if the company can’t even deadhead me from Orlando to Vero beach in anything other then a 2011 Toyota Corolla with no a/c and a half baked driver, how am I supposed to feel confident they can send me in a pc12 safely?

CHS is pretty desirable. I’m sure they’ll get volunteers, it’s better than commuting. Some probably already came from flying PC12s. I’m just surprised that based on the job postings, it seems like a flow through program for lower experienced pilots. They made it seem like they were going to find the most experienced PC12 pilots around.

Because we fly to a bunch of cities with no regular airline flights, the company is going to be using PC12s to shuttle parts as well as crew to rescue broken planes. Its starting in next few months. It’s going to be a voluntary system where crews have to bid into it. We don’t know all those details yet. It’s going to be out of CHS.

This PC12 idea may come off as “innovative” but it’s actually a giant sign of a bad business model… the majors aren’t kidding when they say the LCC model will not last forever (they are actively killing it via loyalty/basic econ). Continue to work here at your own (literal) risk.

Thats part of the problem. Theyll yet again bypass seniority by letting volunteers into CHS instead of more pilots.

On the other hand, the three CAs at NK who advised me early on that I had too little seniority to survive the deep cuts that were coming, and that if they were me they’d jump to a legacy but they personally had too much seniority to leave…
They figured at worst there would be a merger with an ugly SLI.
I’ve now written LORs on the last of all three of those guys, and two of the three have CJOs at my legacy and the third is hoping to get a CJO at any one of the three legacies he’s now trying to jump to. Seniority is great for QOL…until it isn’t.
Life is always a roll of the dice. All you can do is make the best guess you can and act accordingly.

There’s obviously nothing bad about it otherwise we wouldn’t be here 4 years later and growing. At the end of the day we are still building an airline, there’s a consensus that this A220 fleet support is needed, not like we have a choice anyways, other than to leave.
