Default OBAP job fair

I'm heading to the OBAP career fair this month. Is a resume all I need to bring? Do they expect any other paper work? How much time does one get with the recruiter? Thanks!

All you need is your resume and a good attitude , be really to ask questions and be enthusiastic about wanting to join United . I worked these job fairs for a few years and not much worse than a guy who hands you a resume and doesn't say a word , I get it, you're nervous just like everyone else. Make a good impression and have a good conversation with the recruiter, make him remember you , keep in one the convo may not even be all about flying , it's a small world out there so you may know similar people or similar hobbies etc .

You typically get around 15 mins with each recruiter , however they control the time and conversation . So if you are keeping him interested in you chances are you ll talk with him longer .

As a previous recruiter you have to look at it in their shoes , they are standing there talking to 600 people that all have great resumes all wearing suites who look great and prepped well, it's competitive. The hours on your resume only tell part of the story , sell your self on the rest.

Good luck .

You want about 3-4 minutes of talking about your career, volunteer work, or any life achievements. All the interview prep companies will help you but you absolutely need to practice. They might ask you a TMAAT in the middle if they aren't rushed. The real interview is 5 TMAAT and they want them answered in the SAR format. It is very easy to step on your own... start coming up with stories from your past now that can be made to fit into a few situations.

The other guaranteed question is "why United" and there are a million ways to answer that but don't let it catch you off guard. Let them know that you have a good understanding of the culture and future of the company. They will ask if you have any questions and try not to ask questions you can get the answer to online.

Resume on good paper and no typos. Don't stress about a cover letter. They will usually hand it right back to you. Smile and thank them for the opportunity. Don't be negative about previous companies, job fairs, or waiting in line. These are the people who will be doing interviews when the real deal comes around. You want to remember names and to get to know them a little bit too.
I posted this in the military job fair thread from last nov. Career fairs are the same format. For the big three I would dress to impress favoring the conservative. Tie color, suit color, ... at United no one cares as long as you look good. Smile, be friendly, and say thank you.
