Long term goal... fly international cargo like UPS, FedEx, Atlas, ABX, ATI.
Short term goal... fly for a FedEx Feeder 135 operator.
Legacies and Majors not really my main motivation. I like the idea of being a freight dog. Possibly a LLC later down the road that is based from my home airport.
Besides flying, I am involved in IT....specifically, web development and game development. As with Piloting, a degree is for the most part not needed in development and programming.
Still paying of flight school loans. I have been involved in aviation for 7 years, and I'm not debt free yet.
If I were to get my degree, I'd like to get it over a period of 5-7 years without too many loans and going too much in debt.
Given those points, is it even worth pursuing an online degree? Or would my time be better spent improving my chops? thoughts, advice, opinions, k thanks.

I'd have to think the quality & accreditation of online degrees varies a good bit. That could range from an all out scam & worthless to something more legit.
When one has a full time job, 'finishing up school' can be difficult.
Maybe try to research a program that bridges the gap, offers online but then you go to a classroom once in a while? Besides that, see that it's legit and is worth while. With some you may get a little credit for your work history & current field. To many online degrees are not good for much except taking your $$.
You don't need a Phd in astrophysics, but something at least somewhat on the legitimate side. While pursuing that, keep building quality flight hours.

It is possible that you might get a major airline job without a degree...eventually. But only because of the impending demand for pilots might cause them to take a non-educated pilot with solid credentials over an educated pilot with significant "issues". I suspect this is coming.
But the lost career earnings off the back end while you wait in the holding pattern will be far more than the cost of an online degree.

Just so ya know... UPS and FDX have long been very top tier choices for pilots (high pay). So they will be at least as selective as the big three.
I wouldn't chance it, get a degree if you're serious. By the time you get there they won't be too picky about ivy league or military academies, any accredited online degree will do.

In the near future, I am going to go for a masters degree and I'm wondering if my final cumulative GPA in that program would overwrite my undergraduate grade point average? At least for application/scoring purposes since I'm sure it'll still remain a topic of conversation at the interview which is still a few years away (majors). Regardless, it's something that I want to do as a personal goal since a low GPA just doesn't feel right but I'm still curious. Thanks!
