Default 1500 hour options

Hello, my name is Connor and I have just started my flight training about a month ago (that being said I don’t know too much so forgive any of my uninformed questions and please respond simply). Skywest is paying for part of my training so when I am done training and complete my 1500 hours I will work for them for a year then work for Delta after that. My question is...is there any opportunity to work for a European tourist charter or for a regional European airline to get my 1500 hours? My wife and I had planned before we had kids to move to Europe for about a year for a great experience before both of our careers launch. Is there any way this is possible or would I need to have been trained in Europe to fly there for a year? This is the main goal and I’m interested in learning about any way this could be possible. I guess if I can’t get a job flying there for a year to get my 1500 hours, would it be possible to transfer to a Delta base in Europe once I work for Delta and live there for a year or would that not be possible for a Delta newby? Is there any way my wife and I can make this dream happen with my flight goals in mind? Is ther any time in my training or career that this would be feasible? Perferably as soon as possible/early on in my training/career? Please let me know what you think as this has been a plan me and my wife have had for a while now. Thanks.

It’s going to be a royal PITA converting your licenses to EASA with all the ATP written tests you have to take. There are guys who have done it and some info out there on the forum.

Also just so you know, there is absolutely zero guarantee you will or will ever work for Delta. I hope you end up there one day but just know that going in. If it’s a guaranteed legacy job you after, go to an AA wholly owned.

Umm....what? There’s some pretty shady questions in that post.

Work for Delta after 1 year at SkyWest? Where do I sign up? Allow at least 5 years before that happens and that's if your record is clean (ie., tickets, check ride failures etc.). Also, do you have a bachelors degree?

Most European and Eastern European carriers require citizenship, EU license, and something like 500-2000 hours in type (unless you have a citizenship, that's when they can probably drop it all....have buddies who started on 737's with as little as 300 hrs TT...one became a captain in 4 years, the other moved to Dubai to fly 777 for Emirates). Most Asian and Middle Eastern carries want you to have 1500 hrs in turboprop or jet weighting over 40 tons (or something in between those lines).

I hope no one at SkyWest is telling you you’ll be picked up by Delta after one year. Delta is still highly competitive to get on with and there is no direct path from SkyWest to Delta, other than getting hired off the street.

Also, Delta doesn’t have pilot bases outside of the US so kiss that part of your dream goodbye.

All that said, you’re either incredibly new to or naive about our industry and I wish you luck as you learn more...or you’re an excellent troll.

I’m thinking they told him he could fly out of a SkyWest base that’s also a Delta hub.
