You’re likely going to need the degree and be a LCA and some family connections if you want to have a shot at AA outside the flow from the WO.

I have considered that. I have the E175 type and I was considering making the move to Envoy when I have 1000hrs 121 time to get the quick upgrade. The thing that gives me pause is I can’t get a true sense of how long flow takes. The answers here on the forums are all over the place.
You'll be senior enough to hold a 145 CA slot in LGA or maybe ORD, depending on the flavor of the month.
So if you are at 500, make the move sooner rather than later (preferably not before we get the pay raise though), you will have a chance at 175 as a FO and will build some seniority to maybe have a shot at a 175 CA seat. As of this bid, the 175 CA plug award has been on the property just over a year, and, frankly, will most likely end up displaced over to the 145 next bid, when a good chunk of people who are half a year senior to him start upgrading.

E175 type won't do anything for you as a quick upgrade (or otherwise) at Envoy.

Does that flow calculator take into account that not everyone flows to AA? I'm sure most Envoy pilots have their app in at DL, UA, FedEx, UPS and if none of those happen end up flowing to AA. Some Envoy pilots get hired at AA outside of the flow.
I was a SkyWest guy and loved it there. My daughter is going through pilot training now and I'm suggesting Envoy to her. It took me almost 10 years to move on and I had a 4 year degree and clean record.

Someone being hired today would be anywhere in the 7-9 year window. Probably somewhere in the middle.

Venture over the Envoy subsection, enough has been said about direct entry captains life there.
Short version - for about two years expect reserve on the least desirable equipment in the least desirable bases.
175 type will be overgrown with mold and cobwebs by the time you need it again. Moreover, having a type does not change your training footprint in any way.
See what I said above - if you are still low on time, plan to come on over and use the FO time to build seniority. If not, you will not enjoy it here.

I had one lucky break when I graduated high school. I became a mechanical designer and over many years worked my way up to senior levels as designer. Then, with just my work experience, I had opportunities as an engineer. Once I had that locked in, I kept advancing within engineering until I topped out in management. Executive level was out of reach as a post graduate degree was an absolute requirement.
At your age you'll also need some TPIC, probably 2K... they only hire regional FO's who are young and fresh. You'll also want to be well groomed, well dressed, and physically fit for any legacy interview, in my experience they only hold old guys who don't look old.
Alternatively a LCC/ULCC might well hire you on the assumption that you won't bail for the bigs without a degree or PIC. Better pay and QOL than OO if the domicile geography works for you.
