Default Airlineapps and training Question

Hi All,

I am in my 1st year at my regional and it's my first 121 job; came from flight instructing. I started filling out airlines and submitting my applications, even though I know I am along ways off. Here is my question. The addenda for several airlines (Delta, United) state:

"1. Have you ever been the subject of an evaluation board or been removed from flight status, downgraded, or failed any portion of flight training either civilian or military?"

-I check "no," but I found out I was on special track b/c I was high time on OE. I completed my observation flight and apparently I am done. I was notified via email 6 months after my checkered about the need for an observation flight, but I never met with a review board. I just spoke to a member on the phone at 50 hours of IOE. Do I check yes and if so, will this hurt my chances at a major/legacy? I passed every checkride and line check to date. Thanks!

With these kinds of questions it is best to answer them literally, and not try to read anything into it (or out of it). In the case of a grey area, the convention wisdom in the industry is to err on the conservative side, to avoid any suspicion that you might be deceitful.

Re. a review board... speaking to a training supervisor does not in my mind constitute a "board", unless he told you he was acting on behalf of a board.

The total IOE will appear on your PRIA report, and they know what's normal and what's not.

So will a line check. If it's the CA's line check it should be flagged as "random" since FO's don't normally get line checks. But if it was a special tracking line check it should indicate that somehow. Better get a copy of your PRIA.

So I think an employer would see it all via PRIA, so be prepared to talk about it at an interview. But the question does not ask about special tracking, and you didn't fail anything... just needed more IOE. The only part of the question I might be concerned about would be the "board" aspect. Might just call the training Dept and ask if your IOE was extended by policy of it there was actually a board involved.
