Does everybody that uses an electronic logbook keep a traditional log book as well? This is insane!

I keep an electronic logbook and write my trips into my little red book to make sure the company flight times matches up with what I have. At my last regional interview, I showed my printed off Logbook Pro logbook and my handwritten training logbook. It must have been good enough since I was offered a job.

Have a mix of Mil/Civilian time. Active GA pilot and airplane owner. Keep logten pro and plan on printing and binding it.

I have printed and stapled wallet size pictures into my hand written civilian logbook. They do not obscure the data in my entries, and are of good taste. Either pictures of the planes themselves, or me standing with passengers of mine next to the plane.

This a popular thing to do in European logbooks, but I haven't seen this done much in the states. Will this be viewed as unprofessional in an interview?

I have been logging leg by leg. Would it be better to do leg by leg electronic and just day by day in my paper logbook?

I have not had a paper log book for most of my 121 career (14 yrs) and my first two log books were destroyed when my house flooded as we where moving in! I only have logbook pro and thankfully I had transitioned to an all electronic format prior to the flood. Has anyone interviewed lately with printed electronic logbooks?

I'm not sure I follow you, are you logging leg by leg electronically or on paper? Whatever you do, be consistent. I would suggest leg by leg only because it shows a little more attention to detail but if you are in a hurry day by day would work too. Good luck.

Long hauler,

I haven't interviewed for an airline gig in 8 years, but at my last interview (Fortune 50 company), all i had was my original training logbooks through my first 121 gig and then all hours after that were on a printout of my electronic logbook. Wasn't an issue.

I also haven't kept any sort of paper logbook since about 2002.

I had my logbook on logbook pro when I did my Delta interview. It was printed out and neatly bound. All you have to do is sign each page. The interview seemed pleased with the presentation. I also took my old logbooks as a backup. A lot of people have used Kinkos to have it bound.

I used Kinkos and had them do it on resume paper, it looked pretty nice. See what you can find for a nice binder though. I had a custom leather one made and had my name embossed on it, looked very professional.

No, Kinko's (Fedex Office now) doesn't make the leather binders that I am aware of. I ordered it from Scott Leather who is out of business now. They used to make really nice flight kits so I called them and they put together the binder for me. Depending on what Logbook program you are using Logbook Pro offers a printing service and they have the leather binders as well.
