So, to be clear, some of you are keeping electronic logbooks AND a hand written version of the same thing? Seriously, why?

as an aside, my old fashioned written logbook aka from Sportys Pilot shop is 10 years out of date. My employer's training department tracks our hours and currency via internal reports we do at the end of each flight.

wonder how that will work at a legacy interview.....

I recently printed my logbook out in preparation for an interview. I noticed that the solo time was blank (after printing) due to there not being a field for it in the electronic portion (before printing). Do you think that this will be an issue?

Do you have another logbook (written) that contains your solo time?

I use an electronic logbook (Logbook Pro) while in the field to record my time, then transfer it to a written log when I'm home. My written log is my primary log. I tried transferring all the old logbooks to the electronic one, but it was far too tedious and several data losses convinced me that it was a waste of time. I use paper.

I ordered it from Scott Leather who is out of business now.
They're coming back.

I had the same experience several years ago when the electronic logbooks were relatively new. I threw in the towel on transferring everything to digital and went back to paper. Very tedious process.

Seriously, whats so hard about writing down one line in your log book at the end of the day? It takes longer to log into my email than it does to log time and I do that several times a day. It all comes down to laziness. I would never walk into an interview with anything but a professional hand written logbook and anyone thinking that is acceptable should reflect on what first impression you want to give. Just my 2 cents.

So using an electronic logbook make me lazy? Yah........OK.......
If it takes you that long to log into your email I would't want to see you try to program a FMS.....

I use both a written logbook for the "professional" feel, and an excel spreadsheet (free!) with a whole bunch of complicated formulas for breaking out flight time. Takes about 20 more seconds of your time.
