Default is hiring slowing up?

It appears from reading these boards that hiring is in the 7th inning right now. I know Eagle and Sky West are still going gang busters but are other regionals don't seem as desperate because they are filling there final classes. What is it going to take for all of them to be hiring full throttle again? My guess is a major will need to announce indefinite hiring. Is my analysis incorrect or is this the calm before the storm.

New rest rules would drive hiring across the board or a reduction in flights. The 65 retirements will drive hiring at the majors which will of course filter down. Everything just sort of stagnated now as gas jumped back up, but hiring will eventually have to take effect en masse just to cover attrition of the industry.
