Default Resume thoughts...

Is new-hire training with airlines considered as "employment" with the company? Would that be in a resume under work experience/jobs? I failed to complete my initial training due to unforseen circumstances. How would one word it if it is supposed to be on a resume?

I'd leave it off totally. A resume is supposed to highlight your qualifications and accomplishments to get you an interview. By focusing on an incomplete/washout/failure or whatever in training the resume might be sent right to the circular file. Now once you get the interview, if you failed a checkride at that job or they ask you if you have incomplete training anywhere, then tell them where and why and what you learned from it. Leaving off a job from a resume is not lying. Some of us have too many jobs to keep the resume under 2 pages, and we leave out the non-pertinent ones that don't show what we can offer the company we are applying to.

If you started class you were employed. If you had to leave just put the dates you were there and you can always explain it to a future employer. If you have multiple instances like that it could become an issue, but it sounds like it's just one that occurred due to unforeseen circumstances. Most any employer would understand.

Edit: Mooney also brings up a valid point. Just remember any employer can check your employment history.

I'm moving this thread to the "Ask the Pilot Recruiter" section. I think you'll get better targeted results here. Good luck!

You could leave it off the resume, but most airline employers screen applicants based on their online application, not using resumes.

Airline applications WILL ask for your work history, and if you don't include a failed training/termination event on the app you WILL be fired when they find out.

The resume probably won't matter much anyway if we are talking a regional, but if you are applying to 91/135 jobs it might be more relevant.
