Yes, 500 hours of dual given will make you feel like you've learned more during that time than your whole flying career up to that point.

CapnNance - The feeling you have is a result of being on the bottom of the learning curve. As others have said, it is totally normal. You will get better, and more comfortable, with practice. Keep this in mind when working with new students. They are going through the same thing.

There's a lot more to the psychology of learning than the FAA covers in its manuals.

"You'll never understand anything as well as when you have to teach it."

1.) Brother you're going to flail your first few hours as a CFI. It's normal, just make sure that anything you don't know or any question you can't answer you write down and look up at the first chance you get, then get back to the student ASAP. It's important for your students confidence in you and your credibility.

B.) You'll also come to realize what you need to study up on, so make sure all your old books are available. You'll spend more time with your nose in those during your first few hundred hours as a CFI than you ever did as a student.

iii.) Enjoy it, you're finally getting paid to fly.

You clearly never taught foreign students.. I did it for two years and saw two fatal crashes and 6 airplanes totaled and written off. The number of minor incidents isn't even countable.

YES. This is aviation. You should always be learning through out your career. You will notice as you teach more you will learn things either you didn't know or forgot.
