Job seeking: Suit & tie
Going for fun & seminars: business casual or just slacks and a button down

I would have to disagree. I would say that slacks and a button down are appropriate. I'm sure there will be lots of suits there, but if you are going for 3 days, that is just too much. Just don't go too casual...

"Conference Attire

Business or business casual attire is appropriate for most of the events at the WAI Conference. The closing banquet is semi-formal, business attire or military dress, and the tours are casual."

I would agree with OneFifty on the attire. This year will be my 8th Conference and that seems about right. Thoughts: United recruiters are usually a mix of business casual and suits. Delta recruiters are usually suit and tie or in uniform. If I was going to talk to a recruiter, I would want to dress at the same level as them or one step above, but not more casual than. To be safe across the board, a suit and tie would be appropriate if you plan to talk to recruiters. That being said, there have been years that I have worn a button down and slacks, but those years, the majors weren't hiring like they are now. You only get one chance to make a first impression....

Looks like 2,623 total fast passes for approximately 3,300 total people attending the job fair. You need to be a member to obtain a fast pass, and I'm only assuming that a good chunk of the 3,300 people attending are non-members....so hopefully everyone will have a chance to have get a face-to-face with whomever they want.

Depends.......

WIA/AeroCrew job fair, suit.

FAPA.aero, business casual.

And people can get interviews from all of them. Weird, isn't it?

Poor examples of 'business casual' -

unshaven (3-5 days?)
jeans
flip flop style shoes

Probably kool (sic) at a hipster job. Not cool where the typical person you're talking to is 50 yrs, and about 50/50 former military, and for a job that's a ton of fun, great for having a blast at, but ultimately has a great deal of responsibility.

Know the audience and fit in.

What's sad is that that concept ACTUALLY has to be explained to some. As you mentioned, it's a rather conservative career and even "business casual" is pretty well understood by most.

It wasn't the extreme example you outlined, but I was at a FAPA fair once and it appeared some guys maybe misplaced their razor or forgot to pack it.

Definitely sounds like a pilot shortage when 3,300 pilots line up at a job fair hoping for an interview.

90% of those already work for different Airlines

Most of the application at all the majors are from pilots employed at other airlines.

Amount of people going to Job Fairs or amount of applications at the Majors do not show the amount of available pilots.

To say that that shows no pilot shortage is wrong.

So does anyone know if with this new "Fast-Pass" system, if the people who purchased the One-Day Pass will be unable to talk to any of the recruiters?
