I could be wrong but, if you get recall back you don't go to year 3 pay like you claim. Let's say you got hired at UAL in 2001... 6 months later you get furlough, and you get recall in 2007-2008, you don't jump to 6-7 year pay. You go back to your old longevity. Which is year 1 pay, when you get recalled. Just because he wants to be at NK rather than a Delta, United or American, doesn't means he made a bad choice. His choice may not match yours.

NO, what's getting tiresome is listening to guys like you who came here after the top 460 of us laid our career on the line for improvements (June 2010 Strike for those of you who think this company will give you anything) act like what you have is due to a benevolent management team.
You have what you have because 460 pilots walked out. You're reaping the rewards of my sacrifice. Stop being so dam*&^ed cocky about what you have Lobo.

It's a hot topic with S.F. and the training department about the pilot hiring issues. Pilots are better off staying at their RJ jobs!! The pool is running on empty! "Howdy" 12 hours days during indoc, 6 days straight with 1 day off then another 5 days on before you get 2 off. Spirit wants you to stay during training and NOT go home for the complete 6 (7 weeks for some) week foot print. They don't give you non-rev for 90 days? You can't get home because they keep you out of CASS too!! Don't ask about O.E. We had guys get 2 days off then right into O.E. Guys were ****ed off.

IIRC from talking to a DL guy who was furloughed after 9/11 and then called back (again IIRC), he did go back to 5th year pay. Maybe some DL guy can chime in. Might have been a one time thing. Or could be a contractual thing where a furlough retains seniority indefinitely and longevity for (insert time frame) amount of time.

Why? In the 2008 recession Spirit did layoff like the legacies (UA, AA). No offense, but being first year Spirit and laid off, you could go to a regional and get a payraise. IMO rather be at a legacy as 14,999 if the economy is gonna implode than at a LCC. Because you will be recalled back and then where would you rather be? Recalled back at 3rd year pay at a legacy still a better long run option.

This is not correct. There is an ACY CA I talked with not too long ago who was TWA and furloughed. He goes back to 2nd or 3rd year pay (whatever year he was furloughed) also confirmed by an instructor in the same spot

Seniority yes, so if you bypass a recall, and the company hired off the street, they go below you. Same with military leave. If you take 2 yeas off mil leave, you keep your seniority but don't jump up 2 more year on pay scale when you come back. This is my understanding, but doesn't mean its correct.

I think he meant his friend was furloughed when his longevity pay was at year 10. When he/she came back, he resumed at year 10.
