Default Type 2 Diabetes - Diet Controlled

Will hiring be an issue as a type 2 diabetic who controls their diet strictly by diet and is issued a first class medical (without special issuance) with a regional airline?

One of the first things these airline applications ask are if you have ever been diagnosed with any of the following conditions, and diabetes is one of them. You can actually choose not to answer the question, but I have a feeling this looks bad in the eyes of the airline.

I know there is concern with type 1 diabetic pilots who use insulin, however I am a type 2 diabetic who controls blood sugar with diet and exercise.

I would think as long as you maintain a first class medical there wouldn't be any trouble but I'm wondering if there are any members who have run into the situation of diet controlled diabetes and had an employment issue.

Thanks!

I have not seen that question on any of the "big 3" applications, JetBlue, Spirit, Frontier or Atlas, so which airline is asking that question?

It's my understanding that Type I Diabetics cannot pass a First Class Medical Cert.
