Default Bounce back from firing

Basic question: can a pilot bounce back from being terminated by a regional, or is it pretty much all over at that point? Are any aspirations of flying for a legacy career dashed to bits?

If there's guys with DUIs at majors, there's got to be guy's who've been fired too.

Depends on what you got fired for.

23 y/o CFI flunked RJ training at his first regional: Probably not a big deal long-term if lessons are learned, and subsequent 121 training record is good. No trouble getting hired at another regional in this case, although there will be a delay getting called by majors.

43 y/o RJ CA shows up for work drunk, or gets in a fight with another employee: Long uphill battle. Only career option may be mesa.

Felony conviction: Game over for majors (possible rare exception for HIMS grads).

Depends. Terminated for what? Insubordination? Couldn't get through training? What happened and how you can explain it makes a difference.

Depends what you got fired for. Some people by virtue of being jackasses get blacklisted. Just ask a certain flunky with a now defunct youtube channel.

I'm curious as well. I was fired by a regional with no explanation, I was told they don't need to give me a reason. I was still in training when this happened which I guess gives them the ability to do whatever. I had asked for a change of sim schedule and a new sim partner on the advice of my sim instructor and the check airman who did our orals. We were in two differs places. He was a Cessna guy who need the sim time just to qual for a restricted ATP, I am an ATP with multiple types and 6,000 hrs, although all are not fixed wing.I really tried to help this guy but we couldn't get on the same page, he just didn't want to put much effort into studying and at a certain point I knew if we couldn't be on the same page it be all bad. Initially, my schedule was changed and did two flights with my new sim partner. Up until this point I received all Sat's on all training events. Then out of no where I was called into the office and informed my employment was terminated immediately. I'm still dumbfounded. I got my old job back flying citations but I don't want to be there forever. Any advice?

I know 4 people at majors (1 at Delta) with felony arrests, none of them did HIMS. It certainly won't be easy, but you can definitely continue.

It will now fall on your shoulders to prove it was an isolated incident that you learned from, and have become a better person/employee because of it. Recruiters understand that people from all walks of life and occupations find themselves in trouble and it doesn't automatically mean they are bad people because of it.

Good luck to you, feel free to PM me and i think i may be able to help some more.

You're story is odd. You were just fired and have no clue why? Not even an idea? The standard advice applies here - take a set back and turn it into a positive. Do not hide anything; own it, learn and grow from it, and be prepared to openly and comfortably discuss it in future interviews. The first step in being able to use this advice, however, is knowing and understanding why you were terminated. Who actually told you you were being released from training? Did you ask for the reason? Did you talk to the head of your training department? Seems odd, especially in today's regional environment, that you were let go on a whim...
