Overall find yourself a company that has a junior New York base.... which isn't hard to do. Endeavor, commuitair; republic, envoy are places to start. If you've been flying for 30 plus years, trust me there will be nothing worse than commuting. Most places in New York, reserve should be less than 6 monthes. Give or take a few cases

I'd like to hit 1000 hrs / annum cap
I believe that you will change that objective relatively quickly. Flying a year and timing out is a hustle at the regionals. I think you'll find that it's not nearly as fun as flying 1000 hours a year recreationally. Even guys that don't have families and don't want to spend time at home pursuing their hobbies find that timing out 1000 hours a year is exhausting.

Most professional pilots get to the point where they would like to fly as little as possible for the company, get paid as much as possible, and have enough time off and money to enjoy the lifestyle they want.

My total goals are:
fly as much as possible (safely)
fly equipment that I would never fly on my own
fly with a purpose (the $100 hamburger is boring now)
fly a wide body before I age out...

To an extent you can trust them. You have to understand they are best estimates at best and WAGs at worse. No one really knows what the future can bring. For instance I can tell you right now, reserve at my carrier for FOs is something like 4 months. When I hired on as a FO is about 2 weeks. So right now, 4 months. Tomorrow the company could announce we are losing a major contract and we are suspending all new hire training. That means 4 months would change to indefinitely. Conversely they could also announce a new major contract with lots of new airplanes, pay raises, and a daily Snickers bar in everyone's v-file. My shop could be the place to be...running classes of 40 a month. In that case reserve would be non existent.

The reality is neither is likely to happen, but it has happened before, and can happen again.

I live in base and WANT reserve but I cant even have it because we don't even have enough pilots to put on reserve right now!

A couple years ago guys would be cringing if they knew I was upset about being forced to have a line every month.

"Its hard to make predictions, especially about the future"
I just meant that if someone posts current reserve time, can that be trusted, or do recruiters lie about that stuff?

Recruiters never lie. Unless they are talking or emailing.

You'll burn yourself out flying 1000 hours. I enjoy flying 55-70 hours a month. Career is much better when you enjoy and aren't slamming yourself with seven hours of flying every day doing 5 legs.
