It's really unfortunate that I find myself working for a company whose CEO actively dislikes a particular segment of his labor group. Not only that, but by his comment about ATI/ALPA and the strike, he is actively fomenting discord between the two pilot groups. There really was no reason for him to comment on this. Tearing down one segment of his own labor group to favor another, and especially to make a public comment to that effect, is not the mark of a serious, successful CEO.

Yes. Yes, it does.
To comment further on the subject, this is a huge strategic blunder on his part. As has been noted more than once, much of the pilot group he loathes is headed for retirement in the next few years. There is a completely different group coming in. He could have set the stage for relatively peaceful labor relations for the next decade. Instead, he's likely to get the opposite. I was fairly ambivalent about a lot of this stuff when it was just stories and anecdotes. But now that I find myself (again) in the position of the red-headed stepchild, made a pariah during an investor conference call, I think I cannot afford to ignore the CEO's attitude toward me.

The actual quote: "ATI, whose pilots are represented by ALPA, and did not support the strike, will crew all of the remaining aircraft we deploy for Amazon."

WJCandee will be overjoyed by the downfall of the ABX pilots. He'll be gloating for sure on his mega-thread on A.net.

Now you know the REAL reason for the ABX buyout offer. He knew for awhile that ATI would be getting all the new frames. Amazon probably told Hete to only give the frames to ATI. It seems now that ABX's only hope is to win single carrier with ATI and force a merger.
