FDX 2007 Hiring Rumors
#122
Good rumors from the training dept today. Bid was originally supposed to be Apr 15, but is delayed until may 15 in order to get the 777 and 757 on there, with the first 18 57's going to a Euro domicile that's still undecided. It's true that there will be no new hire classes until after the bid, but the company is still trying to stick to the target of hiring 300 people this year. Still have 100 people or so in the hiring pool, and I think something like 20 in the "to be interviewed" pool. Good source, I think, though it's possible some things may have gotten lost in the translation from original source to second source to me. Anyone else?

whoever is a web admin didn't link it right try to put 19 in place of 7 in the web address and you'll get the names
New Hires 19 MAR
New Hires 19 MAR
Perhaps it's the shocked look when they were told that they are the last new-hire class for 5 years due to age 60 changing.

This just in from Maddog ACP in his egram:
Hiring/Meet-n-Greets are pretty much non-existent. We are hiring a total of about 32 pilots between Feb. and June. Please don’t expect any greets to start prior to mid-summer and those resumes’ in the ACP’s files will continue thru the process when we have hiring boards later this summer.
Hope this helps with making your plans.

Even if no one retires, we are still getting a net increase (deliveries minus DC10s pulled for conversion) of 21 widebodies this calendar year and close to that next year. 757s start showing up in Jan, and once the the 100s (only 8 left) go this spring, there are no plans to get rid of any 727-200s anytime soon. Widebodies are crewed at 14-15 pilots per plane, so even discounting retirements and 757s, we will still need 5-600 new pilots in the next 2 years. Age 65 won't affect that. A global recession, maybe, but not someone staying past 60 sometime 2-3 years down the road when it takes affect. Your post was either a jest, or a misinformed knee-jerk reaction to an upcoming policy change you apparently don't like.
