You're going to give all of it to ALPA and they will then decide when you are allowed to spend your money. When they decide that they don't want to spend any more of your money on negotiations they'll just pull the plug if that's what they want to do. Best of luck with that as ALPA rams down a terrible contract down your throats to make sure Delta gets theirs.... This is exactly what happened here when we were under ALPA as I've heard it described.

Or you can have an extra 1% for a Strike Assessment and go 3% so ALPA can still get their cut and you can make your own decisions.

First let me say I am a big supporter of one ramp, one union.

Having said that you seem to have a lot of misinformation about how it works at ALPA and why Atlas is paying the assessment. Atlas is paying the assessment because if 1224 takes money from IBT International than International gets to run the show, ALPA on the other hand has what is called a MCF aka ALPA's war chest. Any MEC can apply for MCF funds and when approved the MEC can use it as it sees fit as long as it is within the the reasons they said when they applied.

Atlas left ALPA for the IBT.

But good luck getting the straight story on that. I was there for it, and either there is a lot of bizarre revisionist history running around Atlas these days or I really need to see a mental health professional.

It is like working in a Kafka novel.

Did you actually ready anything other than the 1.95%?

Before you respond to a post perhaps it would be best were you to read the entire article. I know exactly where my dues will be going with ALPA, but I have no idea where our current assessment from the Teamsters is going or how much is in the account.

Pay attention:
The OCF account allocation (4.5% of the 1.50% of operating income) primarily provides funds to smaller pilot group MECs during times of financial need, usually as a result of contract negotiations. Grants from ALPA's Major Contingency Fund (currently valued at $81 million) are also available for these purposes. A large portion of the OCF is allocated in advance to the smaller pilot groups' MECs during the budget preparation process based on anticipated negotiating schedules and other special needs. A portion of the OCF is also set aside for contingencies and other special needs of the union.

Actually, I think I understand things just fine. Your "MEC can apply for MCF funds and WHEN APPROVED the MEC can use it as it sees fit as long as it is within the reasons they said when they applied."

At Atlas we don't have to "Apply" to use our Strike Assessment. We don't need approval from 1224 or Teamsters. You'll be paying the money and then asking ALPA for the privilege of using it. In a previous negotiation this reared it's ugly head here where ALPA simply pulled the plug. They control the money and the second that you no longer look like a positive investment they'll pull the plug in the interest of "Everyone else" (Delta).

In fairness it'd be years before you'd be in this situation but if you think that they'd allow you to fight for 8 years again you're crazy. They're going to force you to accept what ever scraps Connie gives you if you're in that exact scenario again and it will happen long before 8 years and long before Connie agrees to give you gains. It will also destroy your leverage when Connie knows that all he has to do is hold out until ALPA pulls the plug... OR you can have a Strike Assessment on top of your 2%. I'd rather do that than blindly trust someone else with my career.

Yes I read that. It's controlled by ALPA (not you) and they aren't going to advertise that they'll pull the plug on it when in their opinion it's no longer a good investment.

So, you are telling all of us you know exactly how, when, and where ALPA allocates funds? I’m skeptical you have the inside scoop, but I do agree on one point you made, it’s time for Kalitta to pull the plug on a bad investment.

Once again I don't you understand how the MCF works or how it is funded. Zero dues money goes to the MCF.

I heard a rumor that WhaleWrangler voted for Obama twice, is upset that Hillary lost, kneels during the National Anthem, and was offended by Trump's ***t hole comment
