Apparently, this medium is not my preferred form of communication as I was unable to convey a facetious comment about some that get on and talk about how they forgot how bad the Boeing was...even a kid who knows his mom is a streetwalker doesn't like to hear her referred to as a *****.:-)
When I was at the G-spot I was talking to the manager of futures, and mentioned that I was leaving for Fedex. She got so excited, gushing about how when she was a gate agent for ACA in the eighties, the Fedex jumpseaters ALWAYS brought her cookies. She just couldn't stop talking about it and said she always tried to look out for them and get them on the jumpseat. And 20 years later she still had a warm fuzzy for fedex pilots.
It's a good tradition. You can't always do it, but when you can't - don't tell somebody you shouldn't have to pay for your jumpseat. That is just ignorant of tradition, as Jackal says.
And it doesn't have to be cookies. I've brought powerbars and peanuts before. Everybody's a health nut these days.
And Jackal - I'd give alot to sit where you're sitting. She's old and greasy, but you are in charge.....

Thanks Huck,
I've found it difficult to make a casual point on this forum lately. The emotions here seem to get more dynamically unstable with every post.
Not because he didn't bring cookies...because of the contemptuous attitude he had for it. Gave the impression that he thought the whole FedEx thing was silly cause they didn't have it at XXX airline. And though most of the guys here are pretty much from the same mold, I find myself wondering where a few of them came from. I am pretty sure someone out there thinks the same of me.
No backpedaling here at all. Some people have courtesy, some don't. My whole point was that some people appreciate it and courtesy always makes one a standout.

Glad you brought the cookies! You would be surprised how many don't these days.....
Bottomline...cookies go a long way towards making the constant chatter about how our cockpits suck more palatable....then again, with the bose headsets, you can talk on interphone and leave the non-cookie bringing malcontents out of the newest rumours on the crew bus. :-)

Just kidding, cookies would be good.

Get over yourself.
PS I usually bring candy or cookies, but mostly for the ramp folks at outstations. I'll offer them to the crew, but usually they don't want them. I used to just leave them on the pedestal...I'd say 50% of the time they were returned at the end of the flight. They were making me fat.

I learned the ropes in ANC from guys that where not to cheap to say "Thanks for the help all week" let me get dinner and beers tonight. I pass the thanks forward to my F/O's and when they ask to buy the next night I tell them to remember the gesture when they make Capt. and take care of the ones that help them stay out of trouble.
Jakal is a good Capt. and a good guy. He was taught properly!

The bottom line is to take care of your fellow crewdogs. Be nice, gain mutual respect, and we'll all be better off in the future.

I'd suspect that you're one of those guys who corrects everybody elses grammmar, but that's obviously not the case.

When I was an FE, I bought for a captain the same exact number of times that one bought for me(not zero). I had an F/O buy me dinner once too(they may have split it in the end, can't remember). But thanks for your inaccurate psychobabble.

Never corrected anyones grammer. If a capt let you buy dinner as a FE he's a pretty cheap ass Biatch! Good on you for offering to buy and buying. Most of the international Tiger guys were good about taking care of the crew. The same cannot be said of alot of the Purple guys. I like both groups but the traditions are different between the two. I prefer the tradition of taking care of the crew but that's just me. Maybe you too. A happy crew is a good crew!

I agree with all or at least the majority of that. English is my second language too.
