A buddy of mine called yesterday and talked with a lady in HR. She confirmed that the requirement will be dropped. They have been surprised at the small number of people that have been able to apply. He could not pin her down on a timetable for this though.

P.S. He works for UPS.

All 6 of the 75/76 SDF were SDFZ. Seniority had no factor in determining MD-11 vs. 757. It is entiriely based on experience. The most senior guy in the class wanted a 75 but was placed in the MD-11. I wanted an MD-11 ANC, but was placed in the 75. Of the 8 75 pilots, seniority did determine location. All were asked domicile preference. Noone wanted ONT or MIA, so they went to the 2 most junior pilots. Youngest in class is 31...median age apx 36.

HR is sensitive to the "wants" of the newhires, but seem to have their hands tied on the MD-11 issue. Good luck to all.

Appreciate this post.
Hopefully it won't be too long.

If only a small number of people are applying, I wonder why UPS hasn't started interviewing. Numerous qualified people have applied and keep posting questions on what others' experiences are since they haven't heard anything (or maybe just got the on-line assessment). Maybe the ones getting invited to interviews from the most recent window just aren't posting up their experiences. I seem to have exactly what they're looking for being a heavy military driver with tons of transoceanic experience, but I haven't even received an on-line assessment (I applied on 4/17 and don't have any internal recs). Hearing that not many people have applied is pretty discouraging to me since I haven't heard anything.

Are you saying you are discouraged because they have not called you in 12 days without any recs? Wow.

I think they are a pretty busy company/department. I was called over 2 weeks ago for an interview. The first date that was open was May 1st. Looks like they are a little packed in the hiring and training department. Secondly, I waiting over 3 months from taking my online assessment to getting a phone call. I hope Tuesday makes it all worth the wait cause I am pumped about this opportunity.

Best wishes.

UPS is interviewing plenty...at least two days last week where I saw people in the lobby waiting. I'm sure plenty of people are applying, just not getting past the new pond crossing mins. It hasn't even been 2 weeks yet! That's hardly an eternity compared to most who went before you...
