FDX Poolies & May MOAB
The rumors are out about no more new hire training until 08 due to age 60 scenario but with all the new aircraft coming on and the MOAB for May, is there any hope for us poolies?

I think most people agree the FEDEX year 07 ends in June. I think once they do the training assignments for the MOAB they will then figure out where the new hires will go and hiring will start again. Probably July.

No inside info from me but.....
June is what the CP said. They had been saying May for a while before the June estimate. I wouldn't be surprised to see it pushed to July/August.
The small Airbus bid gives them the flexibility to move the big bid a month or two. It may also have something to do with the over 60 guys coming to the back seat as the back seaters go to 727/MD/Airbus FO training. I think the company likes that since it negates the immediate need for newhires.
When the flood gates (I hope its not a trickle) open again it will be good for the newhires. Lots of newhires straight to FO. Those going to the back seat will likely get passover pay (in year two, before FO class) as other newhires get FO in subsequent classes. Then a chance at widebody FO a year after starting. I predict this to happen shortly after the next big bid. The training generated will create too many holes for the over 60 crowd to fill. The Captain slots to fill (and widebody FO slots to backfill) will ensure hiring for at least 4-6 months.
Not the best news for poolies or those wanting to interview, but better than the backseat for 2 years or more.
