Actually there are quite a few here who work internationally (myself included). Some of us have been doing it for a long time.

Domestically, if you're jumpseating, you'll be wearing your ID, often in uniform, or at least in uniform with epaulets removed, or appropriate travel attire. If you're ticketed, then it really makes no difference: the ID becomes irrelevant.

How do you think all the passengers in civilian attire get treated, who aren't crew members, and who don't have a crew ID? You'll get treated the same.

Last time I came through Kuwait, I was ticketed on KLM, and they didn't want to let my flight case on board as checked baggage. I politely explained that it was my flight case, computer and gear in side, and it normally went in the overhead as carry on. They refused. I offered an ID and asked about putting it in the closet, which often happens. No joy. They couldn't have cared less about the flight case or ID. Checked it or leave it behind. Such is life.

If you're jumpseating, you're jumpseating.

If you're on a paid ticket, you're like everyone else on board who also paid to be there.

Pretty sure this is SOP for proper ID showing technique at the airport. How else are you suppose to let people know you’re a pilot??

Was this thread a joke?

My company, yes, does DH us not just domestic, but around the world, on paid tickets on dozens of airlines.

If you’re a paying Pax and wearing your uniform, you’re a douche. If you put your ID on to go thru KCM domestically, that’s cool, just make sure to put it away after you clear security.

Who even made this thread??

Edit: I’m dating myself here, but a long time ago....

if your company had bought you coach class tickets on a US carrier, and you walked on with your crew ID kinda visible, there was a decent chance the FAs would put you in Biz/First if there ended up being an open seat up there. But unless they’re still doing that....

Well ‘scuse me very much for wearing a uniform when the airport I’m traveling from (domestic) doesn’t have KCM.
I do long trips and need a little more then one fl.oz of mouthwash.
International I check my luggage so that’s a mute point.
Anyway FA’s spotting pilots like a icebear sniffs out a seal - best answer to date.

I operated for an outfit that bought travel globally, but which required uniform wear anytime on company travel. Right there in the operations manual. While there were certainly those who didn't follow the rule, obeying the policy hardly made one a "douche," and there are certainly parts of the world in which uniform wear gets a lot more respect.

I've never had anyone upgrade me to first class because they knew I was crew. I did get a big bottle of water once, though.
