Crappier Lines in General.

Putting a senior International trip with AM out/backs on the same line.
Loss of DH's (both Intl and domestic) in a major league way.
Mixing domestic Day/Night purity.
City purity (what was there was) is disappearing slowly every month.
Poor mix of sequnces or poorer commutability.
More lines are working MAX days each month for less BLG.

Default Hard Time

More hard time trips. If your flying a trip that is 35 hours block = 35 hours pay then you have been optimized. ANC-OAK-ANC. Pays 9:53 but touches 3 days = something less than reserves... you get the picture.

Take a look at Mem MD11 F/O lines 575, 641, 643, and 644. Each of these lines should be very senior lines. Each line has intl DHs, long layovers in nice cities and hotels, and mostly, fly one leg a day. These are lines and pairings commuters and non-commuters would like. However, this month each of these lines has at least one AM out and back added randomly during a long block of days off.

Incidently, I'm afraid we'll see more of this as the BLG line spread increases.

Default There's another way...

All the more reason to pursue preferential bidding. The SIG can't please everyone (anyone?) so let us put our preferences in by seniority and let the pairings fall where they may.

I trust the ability to drop/add/trade more than creating nothing but a series of secondary lines... Then again--I'm just a stupid fighter pilot...and I've been wrong before.

NO - We do Intl hub turns and 3 leg trips through 3 different countries.

Check out some of the lines - 5 cycles through Subic before a reset, lots of 20 to 26 hour layovers (looks great on paper until you do it) after changing multiple time zones.

Some of these make AM out/backs look like a walk in the park.

Maybe so, but I've seen times when there was zero open time and no drops allowed. Now that sucks...

The optimization of the pairings is the root of the problem. I am not blaming the SIG. Crappy trips make crappy lines.

Somebody already gave you a good rundown of the problems in this bidpack. The company produced these pairings to control costs related to the contract I would assume. If the cost savings are realized, then I am sure these lines will be the new status quo.

I would urge everyone to express their feelings (yes -for or against) to the SIG, so that they can provide this direct feedback to the company reps. At least give them something to show the company that the displeasure is real.
