The company will either provide a hotel room or $50/day per-diem while in training. Let them know when you get the “welcome aboard” letter and they will set you up with a hotel. This is a recent policy change that was not well communicated to the last class.

For the record, there are technical questions. I got SLOP, NAT Track lost comms, Transponder procedures, CA wants to fly go something busted hypothetical, bad WX prior to t/o hypothetical.....and my min fuel Calc for an airplane I flew 3 years ago (767) not my current bird. It’s not rocket science gents, but don’t blow it off.

Thanks for clarifying, things have changed since I was hired

So what does a new hire reserve schedule look like after IOE? I’m in smf. Can I do reserve from there or is it MIA?
Sounds like more planes coming? New pay at the end of the year or the start of negotiations? Thanks guys!

Unless you get smf as a base (and is very senior) you’ll be MIA based, we don’t have home basing so you’ll need to be in MIA
The good news is that you probably will have a mixed line from the beginning
New planes is the plan
The contract ends at the end of the year, negotiations were started early but were suspended due to coronavirus, so we don’t know were we stand with the new contract

This is great info - sounds like a pretty solid airline. I applied in the last window, but heard nothing. I assume that they are looking for pilots with NAT/PAC experience.

Does anyone know if Amerijet ever attends career fairs?

Do you know how many they plan to hire this year? How many A/C? Thanks Rocket

Unfortunately I don’t have that information
I understand there is a class starting Jun 29 and another one after that
As far as airplanes goes, 767 freighters are not easy to come by, all passenger airlines are getting rid of their 767’s but takes some time to convert them to freighters, and a lot of cargo airlines want more 767’s right now. Also a rumor that we might get some 767-200’s from DHL
The company wants to grow, that’s no secret, but how fast they are able to, we don’t know.

Has anyone heard back from last week’s round of interviews?

aviator249 06-30-2020 06:07 AM

I reached out to HR to see when they might have decisions and they said they were working hard to release them today. I needed to know based on taking leave at my current outfit. She seemed confident she would reach out today with information.

aviator249 06-30-2020 12:52 PM

Just got the invite for the July 6th class. Paperwork incoming soon. Does anyone know what the training compensation is like or is it just MPG?

Welcome to the family
When I went trough training less then a year ago, was guaranteed plus per diem, but somebody here in the forum said if they pay you for a hotel room you don’t get per diem (Paid hotel was not an option back then).

Sounds like things are moving along nicely over there... Can one of you comment on the type of trips being done and typical schedule? Is it long multi day trips or more turns and 2-3 day type trips. I would be a commuter (for a little while at least) and am just trying to get a picture of how it would be. Thanks so much!

thanks for the info. Can you speak more for what training is like? I am already typed (but way more hours in the 757 than 767), but just wondering if there’s breaks every so often (1-2 days off after 5-6 days of class) or if it’s just straight through? What’s the training culture like? Is it a PC checkride or AQP? Thanks for any info you have.

Training is relaxed, they try very hard to make sure you pass everything
When I went through we did have a couple days off every week
The checkride is part 121 (no AQP)
Study hard and show you want to be there and you’ll be fine, nobody is trying to get you or want you to fail.
Also very important, you need to be very flexible, you might change classroom and buildings every week or sim time and day might change, just roll with the punches
Cooperate, graduate
With a type on the 767 will be cake.
Good luck

Things are changing at AJT
Traditional trips are one day Caribbean/Central America turns out of MIA, however it seems we are going towards the ACMI model with a push for more ETOPS flying were you might stay out anywhere from 3 days up to two weeks
Everybody’s schedule is different, your milage may vary

We for days off currently. There are no lines. We don’t do 7 on/off or anything which would better fit our operation currently. Just being honest. Right now it’s a mix bag. We still are doing out and backs but over the past year we’ve picked up more overnights. For example the USPS stuff out of PHL and SMF, SJU. Plus we are doing a lot of ETOPS now with stays in Brussels, East Midlands and CVG. We have guys who commute but right now our contract offers no commuter clause like most places. We aim to correct that in December when talks open. But guys do commute and make it work. Most just bid to have all their work days together in a row. We recognize there’s much to do be done in terms of QOL and we hope to fix it starting in December when our CBA opens for Section 6.

would like to know if ya'all hiring now? how many for 2020 and any growth projections?

Buford 07-06-2020 08:13 AM

Next class date?

Does anyone know of the next class date? I understand there were two recent classes, with number #2 starting today, and a third and final class in the near future. Any intel when this third class will be?

Shifty 07-06-2020 09:23 AM

The end of July beginning of August for a clean up class if they have one. Hopefully they will.

Buford 07-06-2020 11:09 AM

Thanks Shifty. I had some issues with my availability date so couldn’t make the first classes. I’m now wondering if I missed the boat altogether. Thanks for the intel.

Shifty 07-06-2020 04:36 PM

I’m right there with you. We might be sim partners! Good luck!

I've applied a few times with no response.
Today for the first time I received an application acknowledgment email (only stating resumes are currently reviewed etc..)
Did anyone of those who were selected recently, receive it prior an interview/phone call?
Trying to find some optimism leads... :)

New CEO?

I see Amerijet has a new CEO. Anybody already working there have a read on what’s happening?

Freighthotdog 07-17-2020 04:41 PM

Amerijet is no longer hiring correct?

Thanks so much for the replies on here... Looks like they want to set up a Zoom interview. Anyone have some recent interview gouge aside from whats been posted? My stats for other hopefuls out there is 10k TT, current 767, and plenty of TPIC. Good luck to everyone!

Thnx for sharing the stats man. it helps non type candidates for this airline facing reality.
Good luck on the interview!

No joke. When 10k hours, a type and a current 121.441 in that specific type are the requirements to get a call from, let's be honest, the low end of the 767 operator spectrum, we're all in real trouble.

Good luck VnavPath! I mean no offense to you. It is any port in a storm at this point.

Hes not the only one with those type of stats applying. Just telling it how it is right now.

Apply if interested

While it seems daunting to compete with the likes of a 10,000 hour pilot my advice is simple. If you’re interested in working here, apply. Don’t get discouraged and if it’s what you want put in. Hopefully we’re smart enough to hire you. We need you that’s for sure given pending business. I know these are scary times. Frustrating times. But don’t give up and keep the faith. I myself have been there. I just want to offer some positive support to any candidate interested here. Good luck to all!
