Cargo vs. a Regular major airline
#22
I once had my FO wet his pants when I was taxiing my venerable DC8 down the old SEL cargo ramp, and I said "too bad there's no money in freight" to a higher level UPS non-pilot bean-counting mangler sitting in my jumpseat.
It's a visual joke, the SEL cargo ramp was COVERED in 747-400s and MD11s. My long narrow-body douglo-saurus looked tiny...

Home based usually means that your "Domicile" is your home or the closest major airport to your house. When the company needs you to work, whether your on reserve or starting your line, they pay your way to where you need to be. No worries about missing a jumpseat or finding your own way to a Domicile and no need for crashpads. Better than sliced bread. Also in most cases, when your home based, the minute you walk out your front door the perdiem starts, and stops when you return home. Gotta agree with Check 6, no hats is a good thing.

Yes,
FedEx is governed by FAR Part 121 Supplemental, however we are considered a scheduled air carrier by our ops specs. At some point in the future I would expect to see a change to 121 Flag Air Carrier rules.

Yeah, kind of like when I was flying fighters in the military, and I would get asked, "Hey, when are they gonna let you fly the big one's?" I'd just smile and say, "Someday", and here I am.

Bear with me please I'm still a teen and I'm fairly new to the forums. What I want to know is whats the difference between a major airline like say Delta *First one I could think of* or something and FedEx? (besides the fact that one carries boxes and the other one people) Does one get paid more than the other generally? Are there any other differences, like is Cargo easier to get into than a Major airline?
Thanks for all the helpThread
