I am only proposing this as freight rates are rising dramatically and airlines have a lot of wide bodies sitting around.
Realize, right now it's not so much about making money as lessening the loss. I *suspect* that a belly full of freight is less loss right now than just parking the airplane and paying the lease.

On the other hand, I seriously doubt any of us have the data to actually crunch the numbers for a given aircraft at a given company...

Pull the seats, fill the main deck as well (temporarily)during this crisis. Not a full conversion. Can’t be rocket science...

ATSG probably still has some of those little C containers that Airborne used for sliding in the passenger entry doors....

Apparently you are unfamiliar with the FAA directives for securing main deck cargo.

There are/were minor conversions that can be done as mentioned before, not requiring full cargo cutout conversions.

Regarding National which was very very unfortunate, I am very aware of requirements having flown the same type of cargo in/out of the very same air base using the same type of civilian aircraft as well as military initially. Very tragic.

Oh yeah, don’t pull the seats even easier. No worries at all now, unless their lithium batteries, NOTOC, etc. - doh!
Now- Lufthansa and others have cargo across the rows of seats on an Airbus with nets, etc. Just looking for ingenuity like this from smart people making it happen rather than sitting on the sidelines. Now that’s people getting it done, wonder what the FAA thinks about that. Nah, ICAO right - whatever. Good for them!
