Default FDX taking care of Xpats...

Just spoke with my neighbor, accountant with FDX and he and his family are moving to Hong Kong in a few weeks. I asked how things were going and the conversation led to what the company is doing for the "other" employees (non-pilot).

Move Package
Company leased apartment
Transportation allowance (car lease)
School DEPOSIT $65,000 and $15,000 a year
Adjustment in pay for cost of living
And of course TAXES paid for...

No surprise that the company takes care of some of their employees...but when you have guys like Bob negotiating on our behalf and tells the company that the pilots can afford international schooling because HE pays about the same to send his kids to private school in Memphis you got to wonder...

Default Crew Bus Rumors.....

I wasn't going to bring this up because it is a RUMOR.....crew bus style, but after this post I (mistakenly) thought that it was relevant:

1. 757 going to Europe -- think CDG -- and NO "extra" Benefits for the approximately 80 required crews. The company believes that all the seats will be taken and therefore, no need for an incentive. This includes the a/c will be paid at narrow body pay only; no SIBA; no additional for taxes, housing, school, etc.

2. The 777 will be on this bid.

3. The bid will be long, approximately 1 1/2 years to 2 years.

4. Now that the fiscal year is over and new one has just started, the bid will be sooner than later.

5. 60 crews excessed on the DC-10

Like I said, crew bus style, so it is possibly absolutely worthless OR wait a few days and it may be true......

Sorry for the long time away and not posting....

Have not heard Lindy's crew bus rumors but have to lend credence to them.

1. There are enough air *****s around here that would chase a $10 bill through the Democrat lot just to have a shot at a frozen double DH MD charter that appears in open time for 15 minutes between 0445-0500 LBT that it will be absolutely NO suprise to me that the 757 goes to CDG and goes very junior. First year FO's in the soup line at the church at St Suplice and playing the kazoo in the metro at Chatelet!

2. The 777 would be a suprise on this bid but we do need the lift.

3. Might be "long" on the training letter but the bean-counter crystal ball in reality only looks about 90-180 days out. After that, it gets real fuzzy although they'll deny it.

4. Yep, bean-counter logic. New FY, new money, new problems, new MBO's.

5. ..... and we didn't know this one was going to happen??????

And finally, no suprise again that other HCE get all the bene's while the crew "farce" gets none vis-a-vis a company move. Want to know why??????? Check out my number 1 above and Lindy's #1 too. The company is NOT stoopid and contrary to a lot of thinking around here, they play chess, no checkers.

Peace.......... out.....

So whats the latest on when the big bid is supposed to happen? I imagine they would like to know what the final word will be on Age65 implentation but are they actually trying to wait for that???
