These types of FSR's have been showing up with greater frequency, over the past few years. I just don't understand why someone would spend the time and effort, to tell others that: a) we were cleared to FL330 and forgot to set the altitude alerter, when ATC called us as we passed FL338; or b) I couldn't/didn't read the small print on the chart and then pushed back without ATC's approval. There is nothing to be learned by these types of reports. We all know to stop our climb or descent at the assigned altitude, and to read the whole appropriate chart, prior to doing something. Personally, I feel that guys submit these types of FSR's in the hopes that the company will hold them harmless for admitting their mistakes. I wouldn't bet on that however.

I love the "valuable" lessons learned by some of these tools.

I reached up to scratch my nose and stuck my finger in my eye. Luckily, my sterling F/O was able to land the aircraft safely, deploy the reversers and bring the plane to a stop within the remaining runway. I'll never scratch my nose in the cockpit again.

I used to have an FE in the Navy that would pick boogers and put them on switches to keep the pilots from touching them! Didn't work when one of my buds flew on my crew with me, he just picked 'em off and ate 'em - grossed the FE out and he then let him touch whatever switches he pleased!

Nothing like a good old salty senior chief to keep a crew in line!

At GAC we had PFE's on our tens, and most of them were in their sixties and had been there, done that.

Captain and PFE were working a systems problem back when I was new, and I made a suggestion that showed my ignorance of the plane.

The PFE never took his eyes off the panel as he said, "Did ya hear that captain? The monkey can talk!"

The assistant FAA FedEx POI can't believe what we (some of us anyway) writing in these safety reports. They see all of them. He is former PanAm and United type. He says these guys should save this stuff for a NASA form, and only submit what is required by the FOM, and nothing more.

BTW...ASAP is coming to FedEx someday!

Can you tell what a great job the FO and jumpseater did in an ASAP report?

I've done two maybe three FSRs since I checked out a year ago, all 3 were the minimum required by the FOM (my FO did a great job in all three, especially the birdstrike)! Mainly because I'm lazy! And to keep you guys guessing how much of a buffoon I am rather than confirming it for you!
