If you’re talking about the Airman 780 (I think that’s the model) lightweight headset, it will work. I have been using one for many years. It works by using the microphone bias voltage that is always present even without an intercom of any sort.

And let me just say this in favor of ABX: We wrote enough safety reports about communication problems due to having to shout over the noise of the packs that they put the hot mic intercom in all of our aircraft. It latches the yoke PTT switch in the intercom position. Some work better than others at squelching the background noise when nobody is talking, but it’s really better than having your headset off of one ear and shouting all the time.

The Airman 850 ANC also works well. It's what I used. ATI was/is in the process of converting all of the yoke mic switches with a hot selection as the airplanes either come online, or as they cycle through C/D checks. About a third of the fleet was complete when I left at the beginning of the year.

About Telex headsets... They say the ANR is battery-free but it requires some type of active mic. I'm guessing the 767 does NOT have that because it's only PTT interphone. Will Telex's ANR work on our B767s?
The Telex ANR 850 will work on all of ATI's 767's except for 1 767-200. The noise canceling will stop anytime the other pilot is transmitting over the radio. It gets irritating, so I just turn the noise canceling switch on the headset off for the rest of the flight.

Same with the tails at ATI, only it’s taking awhile to cycle them all through C check which is when they are getting the latching intercom yoke switches installed.

On the topic of headsets, does anyone use the Nflight Mic or the UFlyMike with Bose headsets in the 767? I don't want to be lugging around a pair of A20s anymore.

Anyone know when ATI is set to renegotiate their contract?

We've been in negotiations for about 18+ months, I would guess we might have a new contract in the first half of next year.

I'm curious about the basis for your optimism.
