Amazon Air (NASDAQ: AMZN) has agreed to lease 10 used A330-300s aircraft, retrofitted for carrying cargo containers on the main deck, from Seattle-based Altavair. It also contracted with Hawaiian Airlines (NASDAQ: HA), which has had the A330 passenger plane in its fleet for a dozen years, to operate the freighters on its behalf.

Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM), the leasing arm of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), is looking to place its upcoming A330P2Fs with lessees including DHL Express as it begins its Airbus medium-widebody conversions later in 2023. ATSG confirmed to Cargo Facts that CAM expects to lease at least “some” A330-300P2Fs to DHL through 2026.

ASL Aviation Holdings, a large provider of air transport in Europe for global express delivery companies, will lease ATSG’s first two A321-200 narrowbody freighters in the second half of the year, with a third aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2023. The airline will also receive two A330 retrofitted freighters in 2024.

Looks to me like all 10 330s for Hawaiian's Amazon deal are coming from Altavair, which is not CAM.

Ha ha ha, ok, we’ll see, we’ll all see. We’ll see where the rest come from. Altavair and CAM are the lessors, true.

DHL Express in Europe is EAT. European Air Transport.

Default RFD overnights

How many RFD overnights can someone average in a bidding period? And how long are the overnights? I live about an hour from RFD and was wondering if I had enough time to go home during an overnight.

These questions are hard to answer because the bid package changes considerably throughout the year. Hot reserve is available in RFD and there are a number of overnights long enough for you to go home. How many will vary significantly as management changes optimization parameters each cycle.

Living near a station can greatly enhance home time with judicious bidding.

I don't recall the ATI CBA very well in details, but I thought there was a provision if you had a layover within (60 miles I think?) of your self-designated gateway you were not entitled to a hotel room. Of course this could be old stuff....or I just don't recall the actual details. If correct, you might get to go home by the no choice default! Check with someone for sure.

Negative, but let's not tell management in a public forum about the games we may or may not play.
