Could this actually be happening? It seems like their attrition rates must have skyrocketed.

It is happening and everyone knows how it is going to end. It’s just a matter of when, not if. When it happens the greedy fat pigs in ILN will all act dumb as if they have no idea how it happened, AMZ will issue a heartfelt condolence to the families of one of their many contract carriers, the FAA will act like this is the first they knew of anything. A little slap on the wrist, ILN will hold some kind of charity to help raise money for the families and the funerals because that’s how cheap they are, complete the slap on the wrist penalty, then rinse and repeat.

Unless AMZ has a change of heart and agrees to redo their CMI contract with ATI early….. we’re screwed. Which they won’t, so we ARE screwed.

OR

Unless JH grows a heart and decides to stabilize labor at ATI (and OMNI) and negotiate in good faith to get it done now….. we’re screwed. Which he won’t, so we ARE screwed.

And apparently Amazon can buy influence...
Cuz they don't want their operations interrupted, which would force them to throw a bone to ATSG and renegotiate early, before 2025, and now they won't have to. What could possibly go wrong?

Union submits request to the NMB to be released and the said government officials say “request denied”

The step before that is getting an impass declared. As far as I know that hasn't happened yet. Meditation is an extremely slow process especially if Ford and Harrison is involved.

1. The NMB takes years to get to the point of releasing a union to self-help.
2. ATI pilots are not dumb. Or at least I'll give them credit for not being dumb. They (should) know very well that they owe fully half of their Amazon flying to a strike by another pilot group a while back, and disrupting Amazon's business with another one would put them in the doghouse and likely get much of their Amazon flying shifted elsewhere. What's really dumb here is following the standard airline pilot union script (the one that says that after a period of picketing and harumphing, you take a strike vote and then make like you're about to strike) and expecting it to be effective when everybody knows the threat is not real, or at the very least not real enough to matter any time soon.
