For all you LEC 26 members out there who don't feel represented and feel your union is not working the way it should, make the effort to attend the meeting and vote to send out recall ballots. If the ballots go out and the LEC members vote to keep these guys, so be it. If you bi**h about the union and then don't try and correct it when the opportunity arises then maybe you shouldn't bi**h. I hope the LEC 26 reps vote to issue ballots on themselves as well. If the ballots keep them in at least they'll know they have support. If not, then they'll know their membership doesn't support them and they'll be replaced.

Well, unfortunately these votes can't be changed.
Interesting process, I'm hoping that at least the ALPA leaders got the message that they have a long way to go to pulling all the sheep back into the herd.
You can't fight city hall I guess, and they were much better prepared and organized than the "fringe element" (not my words) that was trying to make a point.
Other blocks and LECs are free to continue to attempt to drive the message home.

Today a Joint Council Meeting was held in MEM at the Germantown Centre. After the Joint Council Meeting, Councils 7, 22 and 26 each met separately.
During the Council 26 meeting a motion to initiate a recall vote of the Council 26 Officers was put to a vote. The results of that vote are below:
* 83.0% of the members present voted down the motion to recall Council 26 Chairman, Captain John Grones by a vote of 44-9.
* 86.5% of the members present voted down the motion to recall Council 26 Vice Chairman, First Officer Sean McDonald by a vote of 45-7.
* 86.7% of the members present voted down the motion to recall Council 26 Secretary-Treasurer, Captain Scott Schwartz by a vote of 46-7.

The recall process was exercised and, of the group that attended (said to be the largest group to attend a LEC meeting), the vote for issuance of recall ballots to recall block 3, 6, and 11 block reps failed. While I still feel we are lacking effective representation, the majority at the meeting has spoken and recall ballots will not be issued. They have the support of the LEC members present. To read into this vote, or recall effort, that a message has been driven home to the reps would probably be a mistake. We should continue to engage our reps with our views on all subjects and let them know when we disagree with them and work to get the best we can get in any effort concerning the company.

Micro: I appreciate your efforts to make a difference in our union. I do think, however, that a message was sent and received. Unfortunately, that message was that as a group, our pilots are disinterested in whats going on and extremely trusting of the LEC and MEC reps. It was not the message that I would have liked them to get, but it is certainly the message I got. I agree that they probably still do not understand the angst they have caused in at least a fair (if not the majority) number of their constituents.
I am continually amazed at the way this crewforce and union officials (fail to) interact. I have learned much in my 5 years here, and will stow the info away as another lesson learned in life.
Thanks again for your efforts to engage the union to more effectively represent us.
