The $2700 Question

Bohica,
You're right... I actually talked with one of the guys who gave me a rec. Great guy, but I was really surprised and disappointed when, two weeks away from the LOA vote closing, I called him and asked his opinion, and he said
"it won't really affect me, I'm not going there with my wife anyway"
then I said "have you read it though, specially the part on STV?",
his response "I don't need to read it since I'm not bidding it...".
I couldn't believe it. Seriously disappointed, although I still fully appreciate his letter of rec. What can one say you know?
It'll affect everyone outside of the top 20% at some point down the road.
I'm still very happy and very excited to be in the pool and have this opportunity. We'll see what happens.
OK, I can log off now that I got my shot of APC for the day

You're not even on the property yet and you're complaining and disappointed about the LOA?
Hate to break it to you, but try hauling the jug of shame around doing 4 leg a.m. hub turns all week for the next 5 years, and you'll be begging to fly widebodies in Asia or France for $135-140 an hr (after your 1st year).

He has every right to complain about an LOA which is totally substandard and inadequate in nearly every aspect before he is on the property.
He has demostrated that he has more brains than 68% of the current pilots on the property, as well 11 members of our "union".
I wish we had the brains to have hired more people like him.

Real simple then, don't come here if he's seriously disappointed. He can always go to CAL and make half of that rate.
And no, he doesn't have a right to complain about anything at Fedex, since he doesn't know jack squat about how things really work here.

Cloud sailor was right on the mark. All he said was he was disappointed that his sponsor voted with out reading or thinking. Then he said he was still grateful for the recommendation and for being in the pool.
If anyone is offended by that they must have voted without reading or thinking.

Same principle applies to you as well, if you don't like it, then either:
1. Don't bid it.
2. Suck it up and do it.
3. Go work somewhere else.

I didn't mean to stir up any anger and apologize for not explaining myself more clearly. I was only disappointed in my friend, who did not read the LOA he voted on. The LOA which affects everyone there, and yet to be there.
I am however, extremely grateful for the opportunity and the honor to be in the pool. FedEx is the ONLY company for which I would leave my current flying job. I've been patiently and happily waiting for the call and look forward to joining the great team.
Thanks for the post FDXLAG.
Good luck guys.
