In answer to the original question. You are going to have your wife or dad or your newly formed LLC purchase the property in question and then lease it back to you for an amount in excess of $2700. That way you at least get to keep the full amount. The smart crashpad guy has the LLC buy the property and lease it back to several people at >$2700 to allow everyone to get max allowances. Also, since you are not in the US the tax implications of deductable home mortgage doesn't apply, or capital exclusion for sale of your primary residence. Plus, lots of more entertaining tax implications. Oh, and the company will determine for you what you will be paying in taxes.

My daughter had this math problem for homework this afternoon, can anyone help her solve it?
You make $10 babysitting and use it to buy lollipops at $1 each. Then your parents move overseas where you make $13.33 babysitting, but lollipops cost $1.40 each.
Assuming you really enjoy lollipops, are you better off before or after the move?
I'm thinking about hiring a tax consultant to help her solve it

It hasn't even started.
The thing to do is to "whine" VERY loudly about every aspect of this deal that we already know-and the Union acknowledged-is substandard. If everyone shuts up about it and "just colors", as Redeye suggests, it's a permanent screw job.
For those who find themselves under the jurisdiction of the FDA LOA, every shortcoming needs to be highlighted, whined about, written about, etc. to keep the pressure on the imbeciles who negotiated it, advocated it or voted for it to make something happen to improve it sooner rather than later.

Very well said, and absolutely true.
I'm sure they'll be plenty of whining during the 5 hour van rides.
Hopefully that whining reaches someone who can actually do something about it.
